Ah so Kid Kyoto beguns to amass his renegade Chuck Norris Ninja Pirate army.   Soon the might of Kyoto's army vast will spread forth over the globe, spreading Kid Kyoto enlightenment.

Edit: Wife called, she wants this for her next SUV. It'll be a little smaller than the current one, but we have to economize for gas.

I'd get a chill going to that museum and standing in front of a tank, like
spirits reaching across a void.

Interactive museum exhibits can't even touch that.

Its disconcerting to see US vehicles in a Chinese museum.

Great! That shot of the dummies in the Blue-Grey uniforms helps the color choice for my Foundry Chinese Civil War army. Nice to see the actual fabric instead of hoping that the Osprey painter didn't just pick the nearest grey paint jar at hand.

Geeze man, I took that picture and I never made that connection.

Spooky...

Most of the US gear there was captured during the Korean war, a lot of planes you see have nationalist (Taiwan) markings and were from defectors.

Still there was one 60s era US tank, I still don't know what's up with that.

There's a PLA tank museum up by the Olympic stadium, that's my next trip.

And in further Red China news we have the latest Star Wars films...

http://www.pbase.com/kidkyoto/humor

Or are they the latest Back to the Future...

Or Firefly...

Got all 3 at Wal Mart Beijing for $6, haven't tried playing them yet.

I also saw a film at a museum here showing the future of Beijing.  For their CGI they stole a couple of ships from Phantom Menace.  In the Red Chinese government museum...

Now that is madness, Kyoto. Let us know what's on 'em, assuming your player doesn't detonate or you aren't hideously cursed with spookiness.

I've actually been to that very museum.

Before we could get in, they made us check our bags, which is, as far as I can tell, a Chinese ploy to give people jobs and to show off their derision for the advanced technology we westerners call "standing in line." Instead of having a line, you put your bag in your hand, along with some money, and then you jam yourself into the mass of humanity outside the baggage check window, and shove your bag/money hand into it. Eventually somebody takes the bag and money, and gives you a claim slip. When I was there, some lady and some guy (both Chinese) got into it, and the guy eventually punched the lady in the head hard enough to break her hair clip thing. There were military police watching the whole thing and laughing.

China is totally awesome.

The museum is also very awesome. It had much more of a "spoils of war" feel to it than what we have in the US. Like they're sorta taunting us for having our stuff in there. That outdoor/courtyard area with all the WWII era American and Russian tanks is odd. Where did they get American tanks? Did we sell them to them after they were no longer of any use? Or did they capture them in Korea? Or did we just give them the tanks during WWII, when we were ostensibly friends? They've got a F-86 Sabre in there...

Regardless, one of the cooler things I did in Beijing.

A lot of the US gear was captured during Korea. But I did see a 60s era tank, no clue how that got there.

A lot of the planes are Taiwanese flown in by defectors.

Captured/purchased American equipment would be from WWII (leased/sold), Korea (captured) and Vietnam from the looks of it. The Vietnam equipment (60's) could easily have been purchased/given from the (North) Vietnamese Gov.

Also liked the Japanese tanks captured from WWII. Now how they ended up with an Italian scout tank is what I would like to know.

Nice pics by the way.
