p. 21 of the codex:

"Power Matrix... 2. In the movement phase it may use it's portal to allow entire Necron units (specifically... Destroyers, heavy destroyers) and any Necron Lord..."

Unless I misread the question, it seems pretty kosher. You just don't see it very often because destroyers are usually used as flankers, and most opponents don't shoot at destroyers until they can drop them all in a turn.
