Now that I've put together my first two Carnifex models,  I see why almost everything in the Codex has Scything Talons.  They're the only weapon that fits nicely with the other arms.

I managed to shoehorn a Dakkafex together, and a Gunfex, but neither ends up being a really natural pose.  In both cases the arms were trying to collide with each other.

On the Dakkafex I had to spread the rear arms out a bit more than I liked.

On the Gunfex I put the Strangler on the rear set of shoulders, and aimed down with the muzzle almost in the dirt.  That left room for the Venom Cannon, but barely.

Since I'll need two more of each Fex, I'd like to do better next time, if possible.

Does anybody have some pics of Dakkafexes and Strangler/Venom Cannon Fexes that do something special with the pose?  Or, if not special, a pose that looks solid?

Any tips?

I find the best way to make a fex with a venom cannon and a barbed strangler is to make the strangler left-handed.

Cut the strangler arms below the shoulder and turn the shoulder joints around before re-attaching them.  Then, use green stuff to fill in the feeder arm attachment point and use more green stuff to make a new feeder arm attachment point on the other side.

The feeder arm will need to be cut at the wrist, and at the base of the tube, then repositioned so that it will feed across properly, and then smoothed over with green stuff, but it looks really good once it's done.  The thumbs point the wrong way, but you can always use green stuff to cover them up and put some toxin sac covering them up so no one will notice.

Man, that's the joy of Anime! To revel in the complete and utter wastefullness of making an unstoppable nuclear-powered combat andriod in the shape of a cute little girl, who has the ability to fall in love and wears an enormous bow in her hair.

I personally think this is the best mixed with easiest way to make a gunfex (the way I did it):

This is accomplished as follows:

1) File down the Barbed Strangler gun arm's shoulder socket and use green stuff to create a new socket that faces the opposite side. The Barbed Strangler's feeder arm can be left unaltered although you may need to bend the feeder tube (using hot water) or add green stuff to the feeder tube to get it to fit properly into the Strangler.

2) The Venom Cannon gun arm is unaltered, but the Venom Cannon Feeder arm is discarded except for the 'hand' and the feeder tube.

3) I used the smaller scything talon arm for the Venom Cannon feeder arm and I chopped off the talon at the wrist and attached the Venom Cannon feeder hand to it (using Green Stuff).

4) The Feeder tube itself was chopped into 3 pieces, with the middle section being discarded. I then ran a wire between the feeder arm tube remains and the tube section that connects to the gun. I put green stuff all around the wire and viola! You have a feeder tube for the Venom Cannon.

This is how I did mine:

Gunfex #1

Gunfex #2
http://s207.photobucket.com/albums/bb293/Chappy_P/?action=view¤t=IMG_0531.jpg

I would do one of the arms as normal, then I would glue in the other gun arm in a position that I liked. Once that was set, I positioned the other feeder arm, cut the tube and placed a wired to extend the tube. I mixed up a little green stuff and filled the gap.

Just my 2 cents,

Thanks,
Chappy P!

Cool, I was hoping for some of yak's pics.

While I've got a thread going, how about some pics of Flyrants? Where do the wings mount?

Well, with a little filing you can mount pretty much any wings into the upper arm socket of the Tyrant. The problem with that is that it only leaves you with a single arm socket on each side for weapons, so you either have to create a special 'dual weapon' arm (like Insaniak did for my Winged Tyrant) or you have to model the feet as weapons too, like Moloch did on his Tyrant.

My Tyrant can be found in this thread (it was made out of a Carnifex body but the principle of mounting the wings in the upper arm socket remains the same with the actual Tyrant model):

dakkadakka.com/Forums/tabid/56/forumid/8/tpage/13/view/Topic/postid/109637/Default.aspx

Pics of Moloch's Tyrant can be found on his site hivefleetmoloch.com/ (sorry you can't directly link to the page with the picture). From his home page go to 'Moloch Gallery' then go to 'Godzilla Army' and finally 'Flying Tyrant' to see pics of his Tyrant.

Alternatively, you can mount the wings either directly onto the back carapace, or just under the carapace between the two arm sockets. Here are some example pics I found on Dakka.

Foda Bett looks to have mounted the wings under the Carapace between the arm sockets (click on the Flying Tyrant links):

Whereas Bonegnasher mounted his wings directly onto the back Carapace:
