Ok guys, I promised, and now it's happening.  I have started my new project.

This project is based on the idea of one of the sleeping C'tans just newly awakened.  The necron codex leaves it open for there to be more than just the two, although it does say that only a few are left after the carnage that Nightbringer and The Deceiver wrought on their brethren.

This one is called Cherios - Devourer of Souls.  My wife thinks that my inspiration comes from the movie Planet Terror out of Grindhouse (the chick with the machine gun leg was called Cherry.  Oh well, I don't think so, but anyways.

Here is the pic that has caused my inspiration to rise:




Now I understand it looks a bit ... naked ... but I will be draping ... something ... over her naked form.  Just to not be so soft porn-esque.

So far I have started on the designs for the ... things ... that are rising around her.  I've also started part of the sculpting necessary to make the main chickadee.



My intention is to either use a softdrink bottle or curved pot plant pot, print this design at the appropriate size on adhesive label and then stick that to the plastic ... thing ... then cut it out.

After that I'll add the details.

Oh, if anyone has buckets of 40k scale skulls.....I'm interested.....

(Seriously, some fluff-Nazis may get upset at the idea of you inventing a C'tan who's not in the books, but if you replicate that image in model for, I say go for it!)

People that prone to getting upset should probably take up more soothing hobbies for the sake of their blood pressure.

Love the idea, but the name is kind of unfortunate.

Evidently my kids eat C'tan for breakfast.

Give it an Aztec/Masya/Toltec sounding Ctan name. Its something different, and fits with the undead necrontyr theme.

Oh man... I want Count Chocula, Frankenberry, and Booberry to be C'Tan too!

I love the image, but the name struck me as Cheerios too, right off the bat. Maybe spell it differently?

Cheriahs? Cheryos?

Yeah, too much like the crunchy cereal of my childhood to strike any kind of fear.

After stuffing around with trying to sculpt the body of this chick, I'm starting to hope I can find a sufficiently malevolent GW model to use instead....

Anyone know of any of the inquisitor models that might be appropriate, or even OWN one I could appropriate from you...

RIGHT!  I've come up with a new moniker that I ALSO like. (Yes yes, with help from my wife who is sitting over my shoulder saying "You have to say with help from my wife"....)

She shall now be known as:

YIDHRA - Devourer of Souls

Or dream witch to those Cthulhu buffs....

And here's some progress pics, I've done some on the body, not entirely happy but I'm gonna cut it and shorten it a bit, then drape an incan/mayan style neck dress over her chest and shoulders and similar around her waist covering said nether regions.

as well as this did you come up with the name while reading the box or thinking of how happy you would be if your wife had that body >  (no ofence is ment)

At least he wasn't eating Cookie Crisp.

If you did decide to use an existing model, you could do worse the use Hasslefree's 40mm/54mm females. They have fairly similar poses to what you're after (particularly Artemis).

Artemis could work, Mary however seems to be a tad too voluptuous compared to the original pic

I didn't get that when i first saw the artemis mini ages ago, great mini, a little over detailed maybe...lol

But I can definitely use the artemis proportions to help me ensure my sculpt works a bit better. The breasts and the face in particular. No need for labia on a C'Tan-made of metal-devour your essence for fun-type being....

Here's some updates, they come slow since you have to wait so long between GS layers drying.  And I'm up to building the 3rd head.  I hate making faces with GS.

Anyways, heres' the third facial incarnation.  I'm thinking this will look better once I add the head tentacles....

Awesome effort. You bit off a lot there and you are making good progress. Keep after it. The body in particular is coming along well.

Hmmm. I've had a thought. On projects proving to be this difficult you usually get 3 choices, Give In, Slog on, or Modify the Idea.

I think I'll modify it a bit to compensate for my crappy sculpting abilities.....

I would second and modify your plans to use the artermis mini above. It should fit into the rest of your concept quite well. The "snakes" can stil be done, either coming from under the helmet or directly out of the helmet itself.

Are you letting the greenstuff cure for a few moments before you start in on the face? If you wait a little than its easier to get crisper details without the rest of the face moving around.

Female face is about the hardest things to do - so cheat and convert the thing from a nice face you like on a nother mini.

I think some Reaper Sophie is in order here.

I was thinking that a Pegaso model might also work--don't they have a range of, um, appropriate minis?

Also, I think the Artemis is sculpted by Kevin Hasslefree, not a woman.

I would definitely cannabalize another model for a nice head/face. That 1/8" circle will probably cause you more headaches than the rest of the mini combined otherwise.

And you can see her naughty bits because she is a Greek goddess, and they have them. It really isn't that big of a deal. It's not like 51% of the population doesn't see them on a daily basis...
