its a long standing debate between me and captan loken on PH fourms, and iv gotten tired of him saying that he and a good number of other PH members say its blue when the IA artical shows them as purple, as well as the legionair in the GW PH gallery: http://us.games-workshop.com/games/40k/spacemarines/painting/pre_heresy/popup.htm?images/AL_sires_b.jpg

You know at first glance it looked blue to me, but after looking at it a while it looks purple. I took a photo editior and played with the intensity of the brightness and I'm convinced its more purple than blue..... ON THIS MODEL

From a fluff and artwork point of view Pre Heresy Alpha Legion have always been purple from what i can remember.

However Uplifting you have to remember that this is a forum arguement, the actual truth makes little difference. Your man will most likely always insist he is correct.

I just say leave it man, walk away. I'd rather spend my time painting the minis rather than getting caught up in some stupid flame war.

According to the picture in Index Astartes IV, It's bleedin' well Purple.
Post Heresy it looks like a Mid to Dark Blue

Sorry but they're supposed to be deep blue (regal or something). The pic provided looks pretty much blue with purple hilight, so that guy has done it his own way. Anyone got a pic of the IA article? I don't remember them as being purple in that, but if they are it's a fluff change I think (although having said that, it's only in the past 4-6 yrs that GW has begun to really detail the legions pre-Heresy, maybe they were supposed to be purple, but I really doubt it).

Page 31 of IA IV, shows colour line drawings only.  The Pre - Heresy marine is of a purple hue, whilst the Post - Heresy marine is in blue.
And that's the wonderful world of print colour for you.
The "fluff" in IA IV does not state clearly, a colour scheme for them, rather their willingness to adopt any that would confuse their enemies.
The photo in Codex: Eye of Terror shows them to be in a Post  - Heresy Dark Blue based colour.
Go figure.

rather late, *relodes his bolter and opens fire*. i used to ignore his taunts and we droped it but... with an upcomeing pre heresy mega battle at a locle store i have been em touching up, and the taunts came back. i under stand he wont back down, because he wont even when everyone in the store at the time (bar him) agrees with me that they are purple.thus i have decided to hold my own agenst the color blind, untill legion comes out.

but that dosnt mean you guys cant still vote
