The 360 panorama is in the gallery and you can get a better idea of the pose of the mini. I think its a pretty good action pose. We posted the photo of this a few days ago on TGN. We also have a shot of the cover for the Pirates of the Broken Coast book as well

For fans of the Mariner (that's me!) it's a great looking warjack.

Beautiful model. I'd pick it up just to paint it.
Easily one of my top 3 favourite Jacks.

I feel like I'm going to regret asking this, but how effective could a Warmachine army based primarily on pirate mercs and jacks be? Maybe with some other stuff like Steelhead Halberdiers or Croe's Cutthroats thrown in the mix?

It's going to be really hard to resist doing a pirate army come spring. I held it off with the first releases, but now...

Posted By Hordini on 09/09/2007 9:23 PM I feel like I'm going to regret asking this, but how effective could a Warmachine army based primarily on pirate mercs and jacks be? Maybe with some other stuff like Steelhead Halberdiers or Croe's Cutthroats thrown in the mix? I've never ran a Shae/Pirates force, myself, but I have played against one several times. When backed up by specific Pirate solos (which have a direct effect on the abilities of the pirates themselves when they are in proximity) they can be surprisingly resiliant and hit like a ton of bricks. The unit attachment can even make a unit of pirates Advance Deploy. One of the solos allows you to boost the dice rolls of the Pirate infantry which is something not many infantry can do. The Mariner is a strong warjack with an AoE melee and ranged attack and the Buckaneer is good for support. Shae, himself, is a beast and I would say, all in all, that yes pirates can make an effective force. The only issue with it that I see is that it is very dependant on Solos (which is a handicap on the tournement level) and once you play against the list a few times, you know all their tricks because the models available to the army are currently very limitted (though that will probably change very quickly.) Also, if you want to play Shae, you have to play by the Talion Charter which doesn't allow the inclusion of Steelheads or Croe.

They can use most merc warjacks too, can't they?
The cannon seems awesome.

Shae is one of the stronger warcasters to come out in a while, and definitely better than the crop that Mercs tend to get. However, as Redstripe points out, his contract is quite limited ATM. Expect that to change when WM goes pirate in December, though. I expect other factions will get pirate stuff and some more contracts come out to encourage more purchases.

Posted By malfred on 09/10/2007 7:24 AM They can use most merc warjacks too, can't they? If its not a Dwarf warjack or one of Magnus's custom 'jacks its available to Shae. (I think that brings the total up to seven, including the Freebooter.)
