This is a company project but I think its large and unusual enough that some may be interested in following it. With the permission-to-post of yakface, here you go:

http://www.paintedfigs.com/gallery-spartans.html

We're painting 300 Croc Games Spartans (seemed like a like round number). One of our clients, Scott Kline of
iwfb.org, paid for the minis and the shipping costs, while we're donating the painting. We're posting pictures and videos of the work in progress, and trying to show you a little bit about us and how we try to work.

The latest update is here:

Cheers,

Navin

Interesting, what is the 'estimated' reason.

Someone did a Leonidas figure that more closely resembles the pulp-comic-movie version (bare-chested, beard, flowing cape, etc.). Can't remember who though. It's somewhere on TMP

Don't forget. Once the 300 Spartans are done, there's 700 Thespians that need to go with them.

We've been thinking about the 700 thespians actually. It's the Persians we're not sure about

ZOMG There are at least 9000 Persians....

And its THEBANS. The thespians and lesbians fought somewhere else (but you have to be 18+ to see the pics).

Thanks chaps.

I'd like to do a bunch of Persians, but I wouldn't know where to start for models (for example the problem of Xerxes pyramid). There's also the problem of needing several hundred thousand of them.

There were 400 Thebans, they surrendered by the end of final battle. The 700 Thespians fought to the last. I was surprised to find that the "fight in the shade comment" was actually made by a chap named Dienices to a Persian envoy.

What I'd really like to do is find the names of each of the 300 (if a record was made and actually survived), so we could name each mini on their base.

Beautiful project based on a peerless movie and a great miniature line. *sniff* Makes my heart swell with pride.

Anyone interested in the 300 workout? It's tight. Dunno if anyone else here is a muscle head like me...

300 workout? Is that where you're left to fend for yourself as a child, so you learn
to fight, steal, and kill just to feed yourself? And then when you're an adult you
become a closet married man so you have to take secret routes to the bed of
your own wife?

A bizarre array of focusing mirrors and lenses turning my phrases into even more accurate clones of

Just as a reminder, the 300 workout is more like a rite of passage those guys went through for the hell of it rather than any serious training routine. You'd get laughed at if you try to make a schedule off it. I might try to do it after I can bench a good 200 or so. Anyway, I enjoy seeing photos of guys doing deadlifts.  It brings a tear to my eye. Too many bros and brahs doing curls and isolations in the squat rack. Thanks for the link. Hopefully I can find nice prints of non-upperbody lifts for when I head out for a new apartment.

Oh, and I'll be keeping an eye out when this project's finished. I was hoping someone would come out to do the 300 after these models came out. You guys had better do Leonidas right and paint his rippling, manly muscles well.

Do squats dude.  Squats make a king of any boy.

I'm up to 3 plates a side for my squat so I'm happy.

We should start a thread for muscleheads in the new OT board, drake. Been lifting for ~6 months now and I love squats (what fat guy doesn't? ). When I meant prints, I meant art/poster prints. It's not gay if you have lots of posters of sweaty guys doing their thing with rippling muscles, right?...Right?
