Is this your first resin kit?
If so, then there's a resin tutorial on the FW site that you might find useful. From working on a Malcador, I learned that preparation is the key. Take your time cleaning the parts from mold release and take the time to prime them properly. Different batches of FW resin have different amounts of mold release, affecting how you have to clean and prime them. My Cadian upgrade parts were just like plastic and primed great, whereas my Malcador required a few scrubbing and testing runs to find a primer that really stuck to it. I ended up going with a coat of matte varnish under a coat of grey car primer, a reasonably sturdy combo.
As for tools, remember that resin can be fragile (this varies from batch to batch), so use knives with care. For large cuts, consider a saw (resin is soft enough to be sawed really quickly, but beware the dust).
