Thanks for posting it, very nice read.
Just wondering exactly how do these things work, with Mechanized you'd have to take a chimera for your special weapons squads, can you still deepstrike them (as it seems they need to be) and the chimera comes on per usual? It just seems as if drop troops is wasted on nearly anything except sentinals for this kind of list.

Yep, drop troops was just for the sentinels.
The thing about mech is that it severely limits the number of useful doctrines. I've found that when I mech up, there's only really three doctrines that are required - Mech (obviously), iron discipline (too good to not use), and close order drill (again, too useful). That leaves two doctrines for flavor, usually either grenadiers or special weapon teams for me. Since I wasn't using grenadiers, I had a free one, and drop troops gives my sentinels more options for deployment.

I think the SWS are meant to be used as a counter-assault unit. That is, they wait until something juicy comes towards the infantry squads and then rush out to meet the enemey with a nice demo charge. At least that is what makes snce to me, that way you don't have to rush out in a headlong chage towards your opponent and waste the multilasers of the Chimeras in a gamble that wont always pays off.

Actually, I usually zoom the SWTs and suicide command squad forward as quickly as possible. I give up a turn of shooting, from three multilasers, but it usually puts them in an excellent position to threaten a wide area, creates a speed bump, and forces my opponent to divert their attention to them or risk getting hit by a hard-hitting unit.

When you do that, do you deploy them right away or do you sit a turn? Doesn't that usually expose the rear of your 3 chimeras?
Capt K
PS: Have you updated your blog yet with the round 2 batreps?

When you do that, do you deploy them right away or do you sit a turn? Doesn't that usually expose the rear of your 3 chimeras? Depends on the situation. But when I do it, it does expose the rear of the chimeras, but careful use of terrain generally cuts down on return fire... and for the most part, my opponents AT fire has better things to shoot at then a chimera /w heavy flamer/multilaser. PS: Have you updated your blog yet with the round 2 batreps? Planning to do it this week - kinda figure I should do it before the finals, eh? ...thanx for posting your list for study Bill, now I know EXACTLY how to beat you in baltimore...Muahhahaha! And that, of course, assumes I'm taking the same list....so, please, please, tool up to take down a mech guard force. Please.
