i have collected for but not started a guard army & thought the same about the chimera turret. a way i thought of, but have not tried yet, so maybe this will help? the turret is in 2 main pieces the flat bottom & cupola (the upsidedown dish part i hope i'm using the right termanology) i was going to use angle plastic stock (you can find at model railroad type shops) cut & fit them to the bottom & glue the top part on top of the angled parts to make the turret taller without making a whole new turret. if i wasn't a throw-back to the pre-computer age i'd be able to post a diagram. i've also seen turret swaps from 1 tank on another & turrets made from plastic-card. hope something in my rambling helped?!?

I have seen people do double wide tracks, not sure how it is done exactly but I am sure there is somone who could point you to a tutorial.

Add side mounted armor plating cut from plasticard or bought from forge world or for historical models. There should be a tutorial for this on the GW websight.

You could use space marine predator turrets. Again there is a tutorial on the GW websight.

Good Luck.
