I'm building up a tank brigade for apocalypse and am looking for a way to use plastics for storm troopers. My question is do the space marine scouts mesh with imperial guard or Space Marine accessories well enough to provide variety to field a few squads of storm troopers with them. If anyone has pictures of the conversion I would love to see them, google's has no good image queries for results of 40k, space marine, scout, and imperial guard in the different combinations I've tried.

Off the top of my head i'm looking as swapping the head for little nicer ones, putting back packs on, and then using IG arms for lasguns and running a piece of guitar string to the back pack to act as a power cable for the hellgun.

Check out my blog found here on Dakka!  For my Stormtroopers, I am combining Scout legs with Cadian Torso's and arms and using the scout night vision heads.  I am slowly working up the courage to brown stuff some knee pads on the legs, but I hesitate due to my lack of skill.

Here's a couple of pictures:

I currently have three squads done!  If the weather co-operates I'll try to take some more pictures especially of the sergeants, I am a bit proud of the simple conversions.  I think the cadian bodies work best with the scout heads cause they just don't look too bad, IMHO!

I hope this helps and is what you're looking for!  I can't take full credit for the design, they were inspired by a friend of mine Lou, so I often call them my Lou-Pattern ST's!

Thanks,
Chappy P!

I've thought about doing some conversion work much like what is in the second post, but rather than using the sm scout/guard hybrid models for storm troopers, I'm going to use the figs for my drop troops to give them a special forces type of look.
While on the subject of storm troopers, I really hate the Kasrkin figs.  I always am looking for some of the old style stormies with the berets on ebay.
Anyway, I think I may use the whole scout body and just replace the weapons as necessary.

The USWD that had the Elysian Drop Troop list showed conversions of the metal SM scouts (specifically, the shotgun carrying guys) into carapace wearing drop troops. I don't see why the plastic wouldn't apply.

I think the tough parts to get them from looking like marines would be the heads, perhaps the legs but certainly the arms/greebles. Cadian arms/torsos with SM scout legs looks like a good deal, but I bet you could scrape off the eagles/skulls, give 'em cadian arms and those West-wind heads shown in another M&P thread (or frankly, any separate head, either from West Wind or GW or Pig Iron) and give 'em backpack kits (not the scout ones; perhaps the one that comes in the IG HW box?), ammo pouches, grenades, etc. and you should be in business.

Guinness: for those who are men of the cloth and football fans, but not necessarily in that order.

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil

If you check out www.thewarp.net, whenever it gets back up, browse through the modeling section and you should be able to find a cadian trooper with GS modeled on as caraprace armour. It looks a lot like a more animated Kasrkin.

Also if someone knows what happened to thewarp.net/why it's down... do let me know.

Thanks.
