Disclaimer 1: I don't know too much about Marine Forces, is there a "recognised" (ie published) chapter that does this already?
Disclaimer 2: I have heard about "Drop Pod" armies; is this what they mean? Do these armies work OK?

Alrighty, having got that out of the way, what do y'all think of an army that looks a little like this:

Notable Divergence: Cleanse + Purify, No Mercy No Respite, Eye to Eye

HQ: Captain + Squad (4 Marines + Sergeant, Drop Pod)
- Captain with Power Weapon + Storm Bolter
- Sergeant with Term Honours + Power Fist
- 1x Plasma Gun, 1x Meltagun

Troops 1, 2, and 3 (All identical): 5x Scouts (4x Scouts, 1x Sergeant)
- Sergeant with Sniper Rifle
- 3x Scouts with Sniper Rifle, 1x Missile Launcher

Troops 4 and 5 (Identical): Tactical Squad (9x Marines, 1x Sergeant, Drop Pod)
- Sergeant with Terminator Honours, Power Fist, Furious Charge
- 2x Marines with Plasma guns, all with Furious Charge

Elite 1: Dreadnought, Drop Pod
- Heavy Flamer, Assault Cannon, Extra Armour, Smoke

Elite 2: Terminator Squad (4 Terminators + Sergeant)
- 1x Terminator with Assault Cannon, 1x Terminator with Cyclone Launcher, all with Furious Charge
Fast Attack: Assault Squad (Sergeant + 9 Marines)
- Sergeant with Terminator Honours + Power Fist
- 2x Marines with Plasma Pistol + CCW
- All with Furious Charge

Fast Attack: Land Speeder Squadron (3x Land Speeders)
- 1x Tornado(? The Assault Cannon one)

This comes to 1928 points, so there's some wiggle room, but this is an exercise in academics at the moment The idea, of course, is to start with the three Scout Squads on the table and shortly thereafter all hell breaks loose Any comments?

Cheers,
Viperion

I'm sure there will be a 15 disc super duper blu-wiener-ray edition that will have every little thing included. - Necros, on Watchmen

Nothing? I know this looks a bit like the cookie-cutter drop pod list but I promise it isn't -

10 man squads
Terminator squad with Missile Launcher
1x Squad of Landspeeders, not 3x individual units, and only one with Assault Cannons,
3x Scout Squads
No Devs...

Is this list really not worth commenting on?

A drop podded army supported by deep-striking Termies and Tornados is a viable army.
The Scouts are a bit out of place, and Landspeeders other than Tornados are not worth it.
Moreover, drop podded Tacticals or deep-striking Termies hardly get the (furious) charge bonus.

I suggest to drop the Scouts and add more drop podded Tacticals or deep-striking Termies (led by a Librarian with fury of the ancients).

drop furious charge on your units and you could probably buy another unit in a drop pod. your army is a shooty army, so you really don't need to have them get furious charge. when deepstriking you can't assault on the same turn so just tailor the army to shoot anything to ribbons. marines do that very well so you'll have no problem changing your army accordingly. i'd also drop all of the scouts for more tactical squads in drop pods, and an additional dreadnought (or 2) in a drop pod. that would make the army quite scary if you manage good rolls on your deepstriking.

I would also drop the cyclone missile launcher and add another assault cannon.
