Got Infinity on the brain, and might play some proxy games with my brothers when I see them over Thanksgiving. I'm trying to point up what comes in the starter sets, but having difficulty figuring out what some of the stuff is. Can anybody post me up a run down of what units come in each starter? I know the points are vaguely 115 each, with Yu Jing being 150 and Combined being 200 (more or less), but some of the grunty humans are all blending together for me

If you download the free army lists it should tell you what each starter set is worth in points. Or rather, you should be able to work out the points values from the descriptions of the troops.

You can also download a minimised version of the main rules.

I have the main rulebook which contains everything, but it is in a warehouse somewhere out of reach. I don't have any of the starter sets. I thought once I start playing I will just buy the figures I like the look of.

I downloaded all the material available, and have messed around with making a few lists of stuff I actually like. Thing is the starters do seem like a good place to, well, start, but I can't tell what some of the models are rules-wise!

Take the Ariadna starter for example. The left 3 in the pic are line kazaks, the right guy is a scout sniper, I think the second from right is a vet kazak, and I don't know about the one right of middle - perhaps another kazak?

Or actually, let's try some fill in the blank:

Ariadna -> 4 line kazak?, vet kazak?, scout sniper
Pan Oceania -> orc trooper, 4 fusiliers?, ???
Yu Jing -> shaolin, invincible lt, ninja, 3 zhanshi
Haqqislam -> 4 ghutam?, djanbazan, ???
Nomads -> 3 alguaciles, zero, ???, ???
Combined -> 3 monat, witch soldier, charontid, malginos (easy cause it's labeled on the pic )

All models are their "rifle" version. And, a note on the Lt. models for Ariadna and PanO - they are really just line troops that are exclusive to the box set and they look like the they are doing something lieutenant-y .

Ahhh thanks Markheim, that's what I was looking for. On the Haqq box, which one is the khawarijs? The guy with the bandages going on? Or the guy far left?

And I might as well ask - is there a cheaper way to get these guys? I'm in the US, and I know the war store carries them, but the $$$ involved is a bit high for a game I'm looking to only mess with right now ...

The khawarijs, or "red turban," is the guy with the red turban (bandages?) . The guy to the far left is the Hanzakut with a light grenade launcher.

As for cheaper prices, hmmm, I don't have anything concrete, but I know that if you keep an eye out you can find some very good deals. Of course you can check ebay and bartertown, but I don't think there's anything up at the moment. The other thing is that thewarstore will be having a Thanksgiving sale (day after I think, black friday), and prices should be stupid low! I have odds and ends for some factions, but it looks like you are interested in Haqqislam. Sorry, I could not help more.

Aye, we'll see if they get low enough for me to cave and grab a starter (or 2 as nobody as heard of INF around me) ...
