Let me just start with a simple statement. I HATE stripping plastic. So its been about 5-6 years since I last painted my Tau. Since then my techniques and skill level have improved so I wanted to redo my Tau. I'm also broke so just buying new is not an option. This project would not have been possible without the help of Citadels foundation paints. They are the only ones that have a red that will reliably cover over existing paint. The only models that I'll show that have not had red covered over blue is the firewarriors and the middle crisis suit (plasma/fusion). These are some old kits. Over time they have had antenna snap off or other things break. So there is still some repairs to be done. The army will be complete once I paint up two more devilfish, 16 more firewarriors, 8 pathfinders, and two pirahnas.

I have a couple questions for you though.
So, I see the "now" color, but what is the "then" color going to be? I know you said red, and it was covering blue.
May I see that blue color? Is it on the models you posted? I don't see that. Just saying.
Also, on Paint stripping, Why Strip to begin with???
Paint dries SUPER thin, you can paint over your existing models, no need to strip, I'm sure.
I have done a 'Cron army, Ork army, Warhammer Battle for Skull Pass, as well as my new Inquisitorial Witch Hunters.
From my Experience, Repainting is better than stripping, especially concerning the methods people use. (battery acid...what a shame. and that Floor cleaner junk.... )
But, that is just my Opinion, plust it is 7:00 AM, and my brain isn't fully functional yet.

I understand the need to strip paint because the more layers and layers of paint, the loss of details becomes a real problem. But your probably right, one or two coats of extra paint probably wont matter much.

These guys would have had primer, basecoat, highlight coat and thats about it. These guys were not painted like my current necron army which each model has no fewer than 5 layers of paint.

Personally I dig the red over the blue, but hey, whatever.
In regard to the 5 layer Cron, WTF man!
I did mine in boltgun, then chestnut wash over a bit to make it look oily, and then black guns w boltgun, with blue shoulder pads but on the edge, like the codex cover picture. 10 min tops per fig.
Not golden demon quality, but hey. It was my first army.
But anyways I digress, why 5 layers? Is it an alternate paint scheme? like purple and yellow????
But keep it up man....I like the new Tau.

I think the new scheme is definitely an improvement over the old one.

I personally like the old color scheme.

@Diru0512: Some people like to have their table top models be painted to a higher level.
I personally spend an hour on individual infantry models.

But I still would prefer playing against your army of one layer and
a wash any day over those unprimed (or even in my FLAGS unassembled) armies.
