A rush army with 5 man squads? and no Power weapons/fists......interesting if not the most effective.

Oooops. I see what you meant now about dp and oblits. This looks like it would be nasty.

what would you lose for 1500?

You'll have to forgive me for tweaking it down, but we play small games usually.

Normal squads should go first, they're the sand traps anyway. Probably 1 oblit, 3 reg squads, 1 chosen squad. Still be a decent enough army.

The Chaos codex would be so amazing if you could just buy squads of rhinos.

40pt troops with 11/11/10 with two twinlinked stormbolters! Sign me up.

Wow.
Sixty two models.
That's a high model count there, for Chaos. Me likey that part.
That is a LOT of swinging CCW's. A lot of players will cringe when you start laying it down. <G>

I see that you're going, essentially, for a slew of S4 attacks. What bothers me is the lact of Power Weapons of any type. Against Nidzilla, you're in for a HUGE problem... Probably against your typical CSM or SM force, too, if it's balanced.

The bad part is the Rhinos. If you run into someone running enough heavy weapons, you're going to have half your army (at least) foot-slogging across the field when those Rhino's get popped. In the open, a 5 man squad of CSM's are walking squishy-noises.

I'll tell you this much, though... it looks like a FUN list. I'd bet that you're going to win big or lose big every time. I'll be surprised if you ever come across a close game with it.

Out of curiosity, would you mind explaining what your thought processes were on unit/wargear selection?
(No Champs, P=Wpn's, etc)

I'm curious to see the strategy that went into it.

Thanks!

Eric

Sometimes, you can create an army that goes against the grain of what everyone expects in said army, and it will work.

As 40K is primarily a shooting game, why not focus on that? There's no reason to beat around the bush and run half measures. Making a CSM army full of tactical squads with las/plas/power fist...well, why bother? That's a loyalist list, they're better across the board. Against alot of armies, this list has defects, but you do have alot of mobility which is something loyalist marines have a hard time doing.

Different is often a key to victory in 40K. Seeing a list on the internet, pretty meaningless. Seeing a list in action, that's what really gives you an edge against it in the future--and that sword swings both ways.

Oh I took flamers on the basic troops for killing infantry, 2 guns on the Rhinos to make them very annoying if you don't outright kill them, extra armor on the elites so they can run around and meltagun tanks/MC, and the DP/Oblits are in my honest opinion the core of any Chaos army. Those 2 choices hands down beat everything else in HQ/Heavy.

Oh, yeah. I saw that immediately. Two TL Bolters rapid firing is a GREAT nuisance

On average: 2 hits
After reroll, 3 hits.

3 hits v T4 = (1.5 round up) 2 wounds. Even a 3+ has a chance of losing some models there.

I liked the kit of your Elites... I just wish Rhinos wereen't quite so weak.

Sounds like you have a good strategy for the army.

Go forth and conquer (then come back and tell us about it LOL).

Well, 9 small Rhino squads, 2 DPs, and 6 Oblits. Not bad.
This gives you lots of (small) scoring units.
However, not sure if the wall of Rhinos is really effective because your squads are really small.
I'd take a Slaaneshi Raptor squad, it can hide behind the Rhino wall and then sweep across the board.

In missions using Infiltrate the Chosen squads won't be able to Infiltrate because of their Rhino's. Maybe drop those three and then you can get some PWs in your troop squads.

They won't eh.

You can't run minimum size squads and get all the bells and whistles.

The list type doesn't work that way.

(Meaning you could but they'll get destroyed in CC.)

So, Stelek...

Do you have the models to run this force?

If so, when can we expect to see a battle report? I'd really like to see it go against something TOUGH and see how it fares.

Hmmm as soon as I can buy the SM 450$ deal, I'll have enough to run either the BA or the Chaos list.

Probably run the Chaos list first, cause as soon as I run the BA list I'll probably stop running the Chaos list. lol

So to answer you, yeah I need like all the Rhinos to run this army force or the BA list. I pretty much have all the models in Chaos and Smurfs.

also, I'll be trying the list out as well. I'm wagering I'm not as strong a player as Stelek, but it should be worth a look.

Its an interesting list. However, 9 non-scoring transports, with about 450 pts. That's a lot.

Yep, it is. It's both it's strength and it's weakness.

Don't forget, every transport carries a scoring unit.

Having to kill 3 marines out of each of those squads makes it real annoying.
