allright... so about 5 mins ago i bent the fingers on the right hand of the old lord (the one on foot with no res orb)....

so i bent the fingers out, and stuck a large pice of shot (yes, shot... as in from a shotgun shell) in his hands to be the orb...

to my surprise, it turned out rather nice looking.... which brings me to my current problem...


how do you paint the orb and not get it to look like crap???


my lord is the standard necron... boltgun metal, chainmail, then mithril.... his robes are based in 2:1 chaos black to codex gray, worked up to fortress gray for the final bit.... his inner cords will be painted in the green coloring like the warriors gauss guns....

aslo, a bit off topic, but what would be a good color for his staff... the model is lacking color, and is the centerpice of the army (small army right now)

back on topic... i would like to paint the orb in mabey a red color, to contrast with the lord himself... but i have no idea how to approach this.... so i am asking all you painting typs out there for a spot of help.

The easiest way would be a white bascoat and some red inking.

Maybe gold for the staff? Maybe a green NMM effect? The contrasting color in my Necron army is Tin Bitz. Not exactly bright, or colorful, but it works with the metallic theme.

If you want the Orb to stand out, you could try some source lighting from it, that could really stand out if you practice a bit.
