There was another demonhunters army thread that brought up a discussion of massed land raiders. That got me thinking about just how nuts you could go. this list would probably be a fun one to proxy with a friend, but I'd have to be pretty bored to actually assemble and paint it. (although there are only 18 infantry models and 5 vehicles to paint)

It's a pony, and here's it's trick. A word in your ear + emperor's tarot + 10 TL lascannons = dead falcon. The list is basically the land raiders and the callidus. the stormtroopers, inquisitors and the brother-captain would undoubtedly hide behind the wall of vehicles all game. Plasma kills any deepstriking units theoretically.

With only 5 TL heavy bolters for anti-infantry, I would worry about a high model count army. But I think this list is pretty obnoxious on paper. But in true message board fashion. I have not nor have any intention to test this. I just thought it might get an interesting discussion going.

Has anyone played against something like this? Does anyone own 5 land raiders? If so, willing to test this? I could see it being a quick holiday paint project for someone with nothing on their paint table.

edit: whoops. It was about 30 points over... Now its 23 points short. You can use those points to give your inquisitors something to hold on to while they wait for turn 6.

If you want to do a mass landraider rush why not go Black Templars? We do it better ;-)

That said, I would be happy to proxy this against your IG and see how that goes.

mass land raiders yes, but rush? I think I'd rather hang back for 5 turns protecting my wimpy models.

Tell you what. You bring your 3 land raider 3 LRC list. I'll take this one, and we'll see if a callidus, 4 more TL lascannons and a tarot make a difference.

Before the latest Dark Angels codex I ran a Death Wing army with 3 LRs, and it did okay when you could set it up with the right
terrain. But even with 6 ACs and 3 TLHBs it suffered against massive and or fast hoards. It was always fun setting it up though.
I got a lot of ugly looks for having 3 LRs on the table. I couldn't imagine pulling out 5 or 6.

It's not a bad list at 2k. However at 2k there's really a better version...you can run this at 1500. I'll see about getting a different version up.
