After playing Chaos for the last several years I have grown bored of them and have decided to start playing Tau. In the list below I've tried to include as much mobile fire power as I could while still having a lot of Fire Warriors and some Crisis Suits. Here's what I've come up with so far. Feel free to make suggestions as I have never played Tau before.

A few things here.

Split all your Piranhas into single units. Disruption pod...er no. Try the meltagun instead.

Devilfish with disruption pod....fire warriors with photon grenades...bonding knife...shas'ui. All wasted points.

Instead of the leader having a shield drone and making him a unit (thus getting shot at, and dead--yes I know what you intended)....seperate his bodyguard and just take a unit of crisis warriors.

Crisis suits do not need leader upgrades. By the way, TL Burst Cannon on any suit....try a Missile Pod and Plasma Gun instead. If you magnetize your suits, you can run anything you want. My experience says PG/MP.

Anyway hope that helps.

Why no Disruption Pods on Devilfish and Piranha's?

Cause Devilfish are easy to glance, and once they are stopped in their tracks...AV12 is easy to glance/penetrate and take them down--assuming you don't shot down right away, which is likely with the weak armor, it's not much better than a WS. AV13 is slightly more difficult thus they are good on Hammerheads.

Piranha's are open topped AV11....why put more points into them that won't do anything?

Drop the bonding from your 'O. If below 50% he's an IC anyway. Save the TL MPs for an elite unit. Give them a targetting array, possibly one a team lead upgrade to get the HWTL. It's best to hide an 'O or 'El through IC status. So dropping the bodyguard (and shield drone) will do more to keep him alive than tacking on invulnerable saves.

Drop the TL burst cannons unless you're facing hordes. Your fire warriors and drones should be throwing all the S5, AP5 fire you need. Your crisis suits should complement your troops with their heavier firepower options. Tailor them to a role.

I'd drop the piranhas as equipped, but you probably wouldn't take the gun drone squad I'd recommend in its place.

I've updated the list, the body guard has been dropped as have the upgrades from the Fire Warriors. I was able to add more Piranha's. The list now has three groups of two, one squad has Fusion Blasters.

Keep the suggestions coming.
