Well as I'm modeling it occured to me I might want to stop and cost out this army of mine. Here's what I'm looking at now:

Deamon Prince- Wings, Mark of Khorne
140

ELITES
5 Chosen
Icon of Khorne
Aspiring Champion: Lightning Claw
1 Plasma Gun
3 Lightning Claw
245
Rhino-Extra Armor
50

TROOPS
20 Chaos Space Marines
Champion - Power Fist
2 Plasma Guns
Icon of Khorne
415

10 Khorne Bezerkers
Champion- Power Fist
2 Plasma Pistols
280
Rhino -Extra Armor
50

FAST ATTACK
3 Bikes
Champion Powerfist
2 Melta Gun
159

HEAVY SUPPORT
10 Havocs
4 Plasma Gun
210
Rhino Extra Armor .
50

Chaos Vindicator- Extra Armor
140
1742

The plan, such as it is, is the Havoks (rhino 4 plasma guns) rush forward, disembark and fire. They're the bait. The rhino of zerkers and the rhino of chosen follow them and create a massive scrum. The 20 CSMs on foot walk and walk and walk and finally get into the scrum themselves. The bikes take objectives or tank hunt.

Not a great plan now that I look at it.

Hmm.

I could drop the chosen, put in 3 more bikes and a Sorcerer/Wolf Priest with the lash (it's fluffy cause um, he's a wolf priest, yeah).

Other ideas?

I disagree with many of your choices. Let me know if you really want to hear my critique. It would probably make the list far more effective and stay fluffy, but it could end in a khornate list pretty different from yours...

And you paid the increased price for your chosen for a reason and that reason is not to get shot while disembarking from a Rhino.

Your list is all over the place...and that's what I like about it. The only unit I see that is overtly awful is the chosen. Drop them.

I don't have the dex with me so I can't make any concerte suggestions. Anyway to make your tar pit unit into Plague Marines? That would increase survivability and insur ethey hold for as long as you need them. Also, consider adding at least a PW into that unit.

Just a thought.

Guys go for it. the only units assembled are 10 bezerkers, 10 havoks and 12 or so CSMs.

And I have tons of infantry left.

Maybe drop the vindicator for a 4 las havok squad?

Drop the chosen for raptors?

Course I'll never actually use this army before 5th edition is out...

Run them 8 men strongt with an Icon of Tzeentch and 5 Meltaguns. If you don't want to put that many points into one unit, drop the Icon and 2 Chosen.

Split up into 2 Squads, with each a Champ and 2 Plasmaguns, drop the Icon and buy 2 Rhinoes with EA.

8 is enough for a assault squad with that many attacks. Drop the Plasmapistols to free up points. They are by far inferior to plasmaguns and not very point effective.

You won't use the Powerfist a lot, as you already said, they are tank hunters and normally you shoot them and dont't get into CC.

If you like them...go with it, but drop two marines and add IoN or IoT.

For Vindicator the 5 point difference between EA and Daemonic Possession is really worth it. Buy it!
Maybe bring a second Vindicator, they work very well in pairs.

As you can see I didn't calculate any point values.
This is because my math today seems to be pretty bad (Take a look at my close-to-2000 points =I= army, wich was short 206 points. ) and you my post should rather be a a list of options than a new version of your list.

Here's a few thoughts from me:

Chosen need some help IMO. I'm never sure how combat chosen are supposed to work - start close enough to die to enemy shooting, far enough to not get the charge - but I have seen how tasty melta/plasma chosen are. I'd suggest dropping the rhino and swapping all their kit out for 3x meltaguns & 1 lightning claw pair (or fist) for nastiness. Also try to get their numbers up (to a juicy 8 perhaps).

The 20 marines are golden, I love it. They are going to take HEAVY casaulties, but if the enemy blasts them they aren't hurting the chosen, havoks, etc, etc. Kit seems fine to me, and check it out. Turn 1 - move up; Turn 2 - move up, possibly rapid fire (4 plasma, 36 bolters); Turn 3 - move up, possibly charge (5 fists, 72 chainaxes), otherwise rapid fire; Etc. Yeah they'll die some, but that many possible dice makes me happy

Bikers as noted should lose the fist and go hunt some tank. 3 bikes w/ 2 meltas seems fine, I'd like another in there if you have the model / points.

Possession on the vindi is a must, and no IoCU for the havoks?

So I like the list a lot, has some healthy madness in it. Seeing the IoK on anything has me excited by itself!

HQ
Demon Prince - MoK, wings = 140

ELITES
8 Chosen - IoK, 3 meltaguns, AC w/ 2 lightning claws = 239

TROOPS
20 CSM - IoK, 2 plasma guns, AC w/ fist = 400

10 Berzerkers - 2 plasma pistols, SC w/ fist = 280
Rhino - Extra armor = 50

FAST ATTACK
4 Bikes - 2 melta guns = 152

HEAVY SUPPORT
10 Havoks - IoCU, 4 plasma guns = 220
Rhino - Extra armor = 50

Chaos Vindicator - Possession = 145

TOTAL
1676

The list with my revisions in it. I think you're shooting for 1750, in which case you've got 74 points to play with. Not sure what I'd suggest, though if it were me I'd take ... Rhino w/ havok launcher + possession (70)! Fire support rhino that keeps throwing out that S5 twin-linked template, but isn't gonna draw much enemy fire (and ignore what doesn't kill it). A thought, if you want a Chaos razorback of sorts

I may drop the vindicator completely to deny my opponents las cannon targets. I like the idea but without 2-3 hard tanks to split up fire it will die on turn 1.

Replace it with 10 havoks with las cannons or missile launchers.

But then those lascannons are free to annihilate the prince or those tasty tasty rhinos ...

You'd be surprised how much fire a vindie can weather while diverting fire from anything else. Whenever I use one it often survives until at least turn three. If you have a serious issue with it I'd trade your khornate prince for a slaanesh one with lash. Its not technically fluffy, but they way they made this dex no one can really whine about using the best balanced force. Keep the vindie and hug cover as much as possible while the prince lashs targets into range.

I'd agree that splitting the 20 man unit for flexibility is a good idea. The fact is a foot slogging unit is not going to divert much attention from the more dangerous mobile elements except from a noob opponent. The shooty chosen squad with a claw captain is a sweet loadout. Remember that they all still have a rifle, pistol and close combat weapon so even the melta dudes get full attacks.

Remember that your chosen can actually take up to 5 melta guns...and they infiltrate....my chosen have an IoN, makes them tough as nails and 5 meltagun shots will kill basically whatever they hit....thinking of dropping it to 4 and putting in a power weapon or claws for H2H...just some fuel for the fire.

Hope is the first step on the path to disappointment."
