guess my first post should have been here, but I'm not known for following instructions. Hello all, I'm a 40k player out of Greenville, SC (GO Borderlands!!!) with more armies than I know how to play. I've bought more models than I have sense, and am lucky enough to have a spouse who tolerates me accidentally gluing myself to the furniture when I am going through a modeling blitz. I'm not a particularly good player, however I am trying to ratchet up my level of play at this point. I have BA, bugs, IG, some eldar I need ot get rid of, sisters. I enjoy the game quite a bit, and will eventually turn both my sons into dice-throwing thralls just like me. THe worst part of the hobby for me is that dice hate me. A lot of people say that, but as anyone from my flgs that knows me and they will agree. except blazefighter with his wolves, i'll warrant.

anyway, glad to be here. intermittent poster at best, too much to learn and too little known to bother contributing at this point, however I'll post more as I get better. Take care, and force some saves!

Welcome! You don't have to post here first, but we like to give people a forum to introduce themselves.

Dice are fickle things; I had a set of dice that came with the 3rd Editon box set and they consistently rolled FAR below average. I kept track of the rolls one game and had more 1's than 4's, 5's and 6's combined. Threw them away after that, bought a new set, and have been fine since. Get new dice!

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1

You have no idea how many times I have re-outfitted myself with dice. I was rolling so bad on game years ago, my wife came up from behind me, scooped up ALL my dice I was using, and chucked them in the garbage. She then plunked down a double fist full of dice she had just bought for me, and said "Use these." Helped out.

I have tried making Examples out of particularly bad dice, mass replacement. Short of a chicken and a full moon, I've tried it all.

All in good fun!

Try getting casino dice instead. The GW dice are pitted and have rounded corners which statistically increases the chances of rolling numbers with fewer pits (numbers 1-3). Casino dice have the numbers printed on to them and have sharp, square edges. They also have a much higher manufacturing quality so dont have the air bubbles that a lot of the cheaper, rounded dice sometimes have (which also upset the odds). They cost a bit more but are worth it if you want a fair game (though you might want to keep some GW dice for the LD rolls )
