About 8 months ago, I began working on a new Ork army, anticipating the new Codex. Not thinking such a radical change in the unit structure was going to take place, I created a mob of 16 Skarboyz. I used boss torsos from the WHF Orc box to give them more mass than your average boy. Pics below will show my comparison chart. Some might remember when I originally posted these.

Heres some of em still awaiting greenstuffing. (Sounds bad when talking about Orks...)

Well, my question is, what do you guys suggest I should do with these models? They represent a decent investment in time and money, and I personally think they look great. However, I can't find a role they should fill with the new Dex. Too 'ard to be Slugga Boyz, too weedy to be Nobz. Any suggestions?

Rulebook: "A ram is a special kind of tank shock"
You: "So it's a tank shock until it hits a vehicle, and then it's a ram, not a tank shock, and then it goes back to being a tank shock later!"
Me: "Yeah it doesn't really say any of that in here, how about we just play by what's written in here?"

I don't think they look to weedy to represent nobs. Except your nobs to look even bigger and meaner. Trukk Boyz would be worth a try. Or put some plastic jump packs on their back I heard Storm Boyz are flying again.

Nobz sound the perfect choice for oversized ork models, and yours look great. The only downside is that everyone seems to think power klaws are essential for Nobz, so you'll be ripping off a few arms...

I know your problem, i ended up with 30 half converted metal nobz i wanted to use as scarboyz.
Goff Truckboyz could work (as they are the biggest and meanest of all Orcs) or dead ard Storm Boyz as sugessted.

Depending on how open to new ideas your gaming group is, you could make up rules for them.
0–20, 7pts each; identical to slugga boyz but S4.

Otherwise, I suggest you use them as your first core choice: a household mob of da biggest, 'ardest boyz.

Aren't 'ard Boyz an option now? Or am I mistaken?

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1

'ard boys are now an upgrade for a single boy unit.

personally, I would have no problem at all playing against those as a nob squad.

As suggested:
'ard boyz
trukk boyz
storm boyz

Kill team skarboyz (as 'ardboyz)

Guinness: for those who are men of the cloth and football fans, but not necessarily in that order.

Thanks for all the input. As for making them 'Ard Boyz, I already have converted models for them to suit that role. I'm probably going to try and convert six more and make them into two Trukk mobs. While some in my gaming group wouldn't mind carrying over the Skarboyz stats, too many would oppose the idea for me to think this a viable option.

PS: Is it just me, or is 30 bucks for a 35 points trukk a rip?

if it was a 70 point model, would that really make you feel better? But I agree that a few gamers will be discouraged from doing a '6 mobs of trukk boyz' (or 9 if you want nobz in trukks too) army due to the cost.

Unless we already have a KOS army...
