I, by way of introduction, wish to give my general feelings on gaming right up front.

I am a firm believer in social contract as it applies to sportsmanship, and overall game ettiquette. In that vien, greetings to you all. I want you to know that by default, I count you as friend. For we all enjoy, in some form or another, the hobby that is table top gaming.

For me it is the zen like relaxation of modeling and painting coupled with the comraderie of pitting my latest crazy idea for an army list against a friend. I am all about having a good time, win or lose, and endeavor to offer my opponant the same. I also believe that it is also "his" job to offer me the same, and as such we should both behave apropriately, regardless of the setting. Tournament or otherwise. I take as dim a view a lawyering as I do cheating, and am not entirely convinced that the former is not just a clever disquise for the latter.

I have been playing table tops for many many years, and have finally found a home with 40k and the Dark Angels. These I have been collecting and playing for 3 yrs.

I look forward to sharing tales and ideas with you all. Please forgive me in advance if my opinions seem a bit strong, understand that my comments will never be personal, just pointed. By extention, feel free to speak plainly in your responces to my posts as long as the tone is not personally insulting, or you may find yourself ignored.

So that being said, good gaming and may the dice gods favor you (unless you are playing me).

Welcome to dakka! Do you exclusively model, paint and game or are you also into the other aspects of 40k as well (such as terrain building, campaign management or fiction writing?) How big is your painted Dark Angels army and is there any chance you would share it with us in the modeling and painting forum?

As to terrain building, well yes, a bit. I have a 4'x8' table in my home to play on. Don't do a whole lot of terrain at the moment, but am working on it. Would eventually like to have a modular city scape for COD games as well as theme based apoc. As far as campaign managment goes, once the citt scape is finished, I would like to get a regular group together for COD campaign driven games with an escalation style format.

While I do have a small core of guys nearby to play with on any given weekend, I would like to build more of an active community locally. That is the idea behind my plans. Basically to bring in new players by starting them with Kill Team style forces, and bulding at least a 2000 pnt army around them. Support it by having regular painting nights and modeling sessions, building a friendly rapore with each other so that, when they venture out to play on thier own , they represent the best the gaming community has to offer. Fully painted armies, fellowship and good sportsmanship all around. Call me naive, but it is honestly the best way to support the hobby I love so much. Other than being the same myself of course.

But like all good things, it is taking time, but it is getting there. Thanks for asking.

As for my DA, well I have roughly a 6000 point mix of DW, RW and almost alll of a full battle company. Yes, some day pictures will be forth coming, but I need to find someone a with the right equipment and tech savy to help me photo and post my stuff. Also something I am working on.
