Well this would be my first Dakka post but I’ve been a lurker for years. I’ve been in the hobby since Rogue Trader but have been less in the hobby the last few years. I’m getting back into it now but I bought an Iyanden army quite awhile ago and I need some help on how to make it competitive so I figured I would ask all of you how to build the army list. I mostly play against MEQs with a 1,500 to 2,000 points. I would like to stick to the Iyanden theme if at all possible (wraithguard as troops).
I have:
Farseer
6 warlocks
16 guardians
2 Vipers
1 Falcon
20 Wraithguard
3 Wraith Lords
10 Striking Scorpions with Exarch (Power claw and pistol, I believe)
20 Harlequins which are left over from the Rogue Trader days which mean Shadow Seer, Great Harly, Death Jesters, Mimes etc…
I was thinking about adding Dire Avengers. Maybe two squads of 10 with Exarch. I see that Guardians on Jet Bikes seem to be appearing on people’s lists a lot so I’m not sure if they fit in this list.
Any suggestions are welcome.

The prime benefit of wraith guard is that your troops are now effectively immune to small arms fire, with a concealing warlock and a fortuning farseer; it takes an average of 81 bolter shots to kill one!
When designing the rest of your army, keep in mind that your opponent is going to be looking for more efficient targets for those small arms DENY HIM TARGETS. DAs of guardians will drop like flies as they will be the only available prey for bolters/lasguns.
IMO the units that best complement wraithguard are;
FA - Warp Spider, great for target denial. Can jump back behind cover and remain invunerable. High repetition attack works well for hitting hordes too.
Elite - Harlequins, veil of tears means that they can't be targeted from a distance. Run a squad behind each group of wraithguard as a couter assault option, this counters the main weakness of WG; assault.
HS - Wraithlord work wonderfully with their smaller cousins, long range fire support, tough as hell and some cc grunt. Keep them close and they can benefit from your spirit seer. Falcons are also a good mode of VP/target denial, their speed also supports what is usually a slow and lumbering list.
Hope this helped

It does and makes sense, thank you. I'm wondering if the Harlequins could work as a screen for the WG up to the Veil of tears limit and the opponent having to test to shoot at the WG if they didn't want to risk losing their shots?

No, the Harlies can be ignored, the opponent need not test.
The fund of models makes up a fluffy Iyanden army:
Farseer w/ fortune, stones, guide
2 warlocks w/ conceal
10 guardians w/ scatterlaser
2 Vipers
1 Falcon w/ scatterlaser, shuricannon, vect engines, stones, holofield
2x10 Wraithguard
2 Wraith Lords w/ brightlance, eml
10 Striking Scorpions with Exarch (Power claw and pistol, I believe)
10 Harlequins incl Shadowseer, some with kisses.
6 Harlies incl Shadowseer, all with kisses, in the Falcon.

Look good, thank you! What is everyone's opinion on how competitive this list is? I want to have at least a fighting chance....

This army is competitive, although the Wraithguard costs a lot of points. For saving pts, you could drop the Scorpions.

I think you could make a functional army list out of a huge seer council (buy some warlocks), 20 wraithguard with conceal warlocks (maybe wraithseers), and 3 EML/Brightlance wraithlords.
I think that'll weigh in at about 1500-1600 points. Add some kind of anti-horde, and I think you have a list that could win some games and be really interesting.
At 2000, you might even be able to make a winning army out of it, with Eldrad and somekind of antihorde guns.

It is one of the lists that I have been toying around especial with the large amounts of nerfs that are due for Eldar Skimmers. I would get rid of the scorpions and replace them with Dire avengers which can be a solid anti horde unit. Also consider getting some Vypers for hi mobility anti horde.

Thank you all! It's good to know that with the models I have I can have a competitive army (that is if I don't do stupid things during the game). I might still at DA's just in case.

Dire Avengers with Blade storm are a solid anti horde choice. I would not overlook them in the least. Scorpions do almost nothing but die in HtH against power armor.
