I have my warhawks primed, but I don't know how to approach
painting them. I checked out a book of raptors at the library, so
I'm going over those images as well.

Anyone have any hints?

small dry brush!

GW paints:

scorched brown -> vermin brown -> vomit brown -> vomit brown//bleach bone

...hope i got those names rite ^^;;

also, if you go back in and drop some scorched brown or black spots in the lighter areas it gives a nice contrast and pattern (or vice versa, light spots in dark areas)
