Here's a good one to discus. Which is better, stirring your paint, or shaking your paint?

Shaking. I don't have to make something dirty and I don't lose the paint that coated whatever I used to stir. Though adding something that won't rust (glass or plastic) as an agitator to your pots is all sorts of a good idea

depends on the paints
I've found with the P3 paints, alot of them need to be stirred because they separate, and shaking won't bring them back together (I have one of those industrial paint pot shakers even).
It really just depends on the paint, if it is consistent with shaking, save the hassle, if not, stir away, then shake.

I personally stir and wipe the excess back into the pot on the edge, I simply wipe the rod off on a cloth. The cloth rarely gets clean, but doesn't seem to be getting much dirtier.

Depends on the paint pot.

Shaking results in excess paint slopping around in the lid. Not a problem with Vallejo dropper bottles, but awkward with screwtops.

So I shake the dropper bottles and stir the rest.

Just pull out the little nozzle insert, put your stirring implement in there and stir away.

I'm a shaker, myself, though.
