The Assault squads do not really fit into the drop pod theme, unless they deep strike, but that's a bad idea.
I'd replace them with Tornados and more Tacticals in drop pods. Tornados can reposition and give cover fire when the drop podders arrive.

Comp rules are lame.
Not sure what this army plans to do with itself other than deep strike and hope for the best. If you want to run a deep strike army, you need 3 elites (dreads or termies) and 6 tactical squads.
At 1850 points you have enough to do this.
The Lib will not do much for you against fearless armies. There are alot of them around. Especially in tournaments. I'd not bother with him myself.

Maybe if you let us know what the specific Comp Rules are for this tourney, we can help critique your list better. Also, just because there are comp rules doesn't mean every else will necessarily opt for full comp points. You may have to tweak your army to have a bit more "take all comers" bite against a powerful no-comp list, and you may have to sacrifice some comp points if you want to have a chance at winning all your games and scoring maximum battle points.

Stelek, what would you recommend for a HQ for this army?

In a drop pod army, your command often as not doesn't matter--it's about how many drops you get. Taking a captain with a power weapon is still a decent HQ against people that fear marines (Tau, IG, etc) but doesn't cost you 200 points.
My drop pod army used to have extra bits (that didn't do much) as it was really just a 'fun' army project for me. I've since cut those out and increased the number of units I drop to make the army more viable.
First casualty of this process? My uber Librarian.

So, here's two thoughts on the HQ then:
- Commander with a PW in Term Armor leading a Term Squad. Replace one of the Elite Term Squads with this - if there are enough points, buy another Dreadnought.
- Commander w/ PW and a 5- or 6-man command squad kitted out similarly to the others.
I'm kind of skeptical of the Deathwind Launchers. Your points may be better spent elsewhere.

@ wuestenfux - i use the assault marines as homers for the termis and pods to get the placement i want ... but i know what you mean about them not fitting in
@stelek - i know comp sux , see next for why i dont have more termi ect.
@whitedragon - comp is as follows -
at least 40% troop
no more than 25% heavy/ elite/ HQ/ fast
and paint
@ death by monkeys - i LOVE the deathwind launchers.... when you only have 3 or less they suck... but put 5 - 8 of them on the board and they are to be feared.... esp. by swarm armys
here's what else i have i play with :
2 more dreads
50 more marines
10 more termis
3 rhinos
1 vindi
3 speeders
landraider
3 more drop pods
and just about every kind of HQ you could want

See, what you do is this:
Call your FLGS.
"Hi, I hear you are having a tournament on Saturday."
"We are."
"I've been told you are using composition scores to limit what I've purchased from your store in the army I have chosen to play. Is this correct?"
"It is, but we're really using composition scores to enforce fair play and--"
"Yeah, GW used to talk that line. Their sales suffered. They knocked it off years ago. I'm wondering if I can return two boxes of Terminators since you won't 'allow' me to use them in your tournament? I've opened them, painted them, and played with them in your store but now that I can't use them in your tournament I'd like my money refunded."
"Well, no since you've opened them I"
"I also won't be playing in your tournament and I'll be advising all of my friends not to either. When you run a fair tournament again, I'll be there with bells on."
"But we just"
Click.

There are two problems I see with the Assault Marines carrying the homers - 1) homers only work for the Termies, not the drop pods, and 2) with a ranged load-out on your Terminators, I don't necessarily think you want them 'porting in next to your Assault Marines. While I can see using the Assault Marines as a method of getting the Terminators to where you want them to be, I think it's an inefficient use of them. I'd say that if you really want to use teleport homers to either give them to a couple of the Drop Pod squad sgts. or give them to some Scouts.
I'd also agree with Wuest about using Land Speeders instead of the Assault Squad for some mobility in the army. You can't use them to carry homers, but they're good for chasing down errant squads and taking quick objectives.
As far as comp goes - if you're worried about going overboard on Elite, then like I said earlier, make your command squad one of your Terminator Squads. Or heck, take Wisdom of the Ancients and drop a Dread or two into a Heavy slot.

@ stelek - i have no prob. with the comp ... i know it kinda sux to have you army further restricted ... but i would never go to that level of embarassing myslef over a comp score... and beside the fact that i want to play in the tourney wheather i win or not
@death by monkeys - first off i didnt realize drop pods couldnt benefit from a homer .... so i will most definatley be taking the assault marines out .....
i will be subbing them out for heed the wisdom heavy slot dreads x2 !!!!
this will keep in under 25 % and add 2 more pods w/ launchers to my army
thanks for all the help .... the final list will have....
libby
3x dreads in drop pods w/ launchers
4x tac squads w/ meltaguns and launchers
1x termi squad w/ ass cannon
this leaves me with something like 32 pts left over what should i do with this

I'm assuming you have extra armor on all the dreads? Heavy flamers are excellent choices on dreads, if you have them upgraded or modeled without...
Give your Librarian some upgrades. Once you have a solid core of drop troops, the rest won't matter much.
If you have points for a teleport homer or two, might wanna take 'em so you have a chance at placing your termies where you need them.

There are armies out there that can annihilate your Assault squads in two rounds of shooting, say Destructor-heavy Necron army.

after much consideration and talking with other players @ my FLGS i decided to drop the libby in favor of a termi captian
so my new list looks like this .....
HQ - termi captian - no sure on his gear yet but have 134 pts to spend on him
Elites - 7x termis w/ 2x AC
Troops - 5x 8man tac squads w/ 2x meltaguns in drop pod w/ deathwind launcher
Heavy - 2x V. dread w/ AC/HF/EX A drop pod w/ deathwind launcher
40 tac marines
8 termis
2 dreads
7 drop pods
i think this is a better " take all comers " army
please C&C welcome

Talking to whom? Newbies? Rant over.
A Librarian is much more useful in this list as a Captain. Ever played a Libby with FotA?
FotA is too good to be left home, it can reach a unit at the other board side that you can't target with your weapon.
I did this rather often (Tyranid Warriors, Daemons, ...).

Gratz, TheWang! Did you know that you were going to be facing the Ork players? I don't know that I would've run the 2 heavy flamers in the Term squad otherwise! (I love me the assault cannon dakka, though). Nice job!

If you decide to drop the Librarian then a Master is the best choice so that your whole army can benefit from Ld10. Even with all those fearless armies out there FoD can still be a huge advantage.

Please, the 'fearless' rule of Space Marine is sufficient to keep them alive and kicking.
