Ok so I want to give me normal Chaos Space Marines icons. Does the icon bearer have to have the icon in one hand and a bolt pistol in the other? Or could you give him a 2 handed bolter and then attach the icon to his back? Also does the Icon count as a CCW if you give him the icon in his hand and a bolt pistol?

No, Yes, Sure

I prefer to attach the icon to the bearer's backpack, generally on a spike coming up off it. But really you've got some leeway in modeling the icon, and it can be a CCW in a jiffy I'm sure.

You could attach a chainsword to the bottom of the icon and add the bolter in their and it becomes a very cool staff.

My army is full of icons.....I have everything from banners (for my Khorne unit) to a sorcerer's staff with the rhino tzeentch symbol (for my tzeentch unit)....really I think that as long as the icon is correct....it won't make a difference!

Hope is the first step on the path to disappointment."
