Okay, I'm no IG vet, so I can't speak on this from experience. However, I can speak to how this breaks a variety of the IG Commandments.

- Just because the Tallarn have Hardened Fighters and Sharpshooters as doctrines doesn't mean you should take them for all your units.
- In fact, because just about anything other than Tau and other IG will beat IG in HtH, even with Hardened Fighters, you should drop Hardened Fighters - it's just not worth the points and won't do you that much good.
- Similarly, keep your Sergeants w/ Lasguns.
- Every unit in an IG army is expendable - consequently, it's not worth tooling up your Sentinels with Lascannons are points sinks. If you're going to take Sentinels, keep them cheap.
- Sniper rifles aren't worth it - particularly if you're packing them in a unit with a Demo Charge. The Demo Charge is good for a suicide attack, but if you want your Sniper Rifles to do anything at all, you need to keep them well away from combat.

So, those are the things that are pretty definite. Here are some more debatable comments:

- Voxes probably aren't really worth the points.
- Sharpshooters may not be worth the points. I haven't seen people here talk about how bad Sharpshooters is, but then I haven't heard them singing the praises either.
- Finally, just because it says that the preferred Heavy Weapon for Tallarn are missile launchers doesn't mean you can't take Lascannons. That being said, I've seen the ML/LC debate on here frequently, so you can probably keep them and do fine.

Again, sharper tactical minds than mine can give you finer points, but my comments are based on what I've read to be the basics of IG in 4th ed.

I'l drop the hardened fighters skill and maybe buy either a fourth sentinel or another earthshaker platform.
I can use the Imperial armour 3 army list for the tallarn if i drop the hardened veterans, and who the hell will want to survive against a squad of genestealers per say.
Sharpshooters is worth the points because i roll lots and lots of ones so the re-roll really does help alot.
Sniper will be moved to the platoon two and a missile launcher squad will replace the support squad.
Voxes help because they boost the morale of anything near them and with a commander in the master vox its the best option, but expensive if you have them in every squad.

Hm. Good question. Desert's always classic and makes the most sense for their uniforms, but urban could look really cool with them.

I really would like a blacky colored ones, but that my opinion, a urban (grey and blue) color might take away the whole tallarn look away from them.

Anyway if i paint them like desert camo it will be a dark, dirty and more sinster feel, to fit with the whole "find you now, kill you later" kind of nature of the Tallarn.

Sharpshooters doctrine doesn't have any effect over sniper or plasma rifles, so probably it's a waste of 10 points on the infantry squads that have them. Helpful for the missle launchers. . . but? At ten points per squad. . . that's significant in a 1500 point list. I like to use sharpshooters doctrine on my support squads (3 lascannons or autocannons, for example) to get the bang for your points.

Make up 80 points through trimming, and add a mortar support squad. That's my opinion.

By the way the lascutter is a meltagun las weapon, it emits large powerful laser bolts, like a lascannon but is hand held and shorter range (so it counts as a meltagun). for those who don't know.

As for Sharpshooters rolling alot of ones in every squad i command really does mean that the sharpshooters doctrine is useful, could transfer the snipers to a support squad and missile launcher back into the infantry squad.

And i thought you had to use the doctrines on every squad that can have it anyway.

What do you think of removing a basilisk for a 10 man rough rider squadron, with hunting lances.
