Hi guys, I'm a returning player. Orks in 2nd Edition, quit and came back for 3.0/3.5 as Imperial Guard, quit and came back for 4.0/4.5/5th as Orks again. I lost/sold my armies each time (swearing that I'd never get back into such an expensive/time consuming habit) . But here we are.
I'm starting out fresh on version 4/4.5 so I have a quick question: what is the difference between the Battle For Macragge rules book and the Big Black Book? I don't have a problem getting both but I'd just as soon get the Macragge box (for dice, terrain, templates and a few models to bitz for their heads) and put the BBB money towards more boyz.

The book in BfM doesn't have any of the fluff or pics I think (im going off how the Battle for skull pass book is as I have that).
The book is smaller and easier to use in game and you get the templates to use too.
Ive just started out with the new Orks too after playing 2nd ed (badly as a kid, no idea what i was doing really) and then collecting Gorkmorka models.
Id get the BfM set for game terms and the Big one if you want the fluff. But if 5th ed really is coming out soon it may be worth getting neither. Earliest rumour ive heard is this summer, but who knows really.

I don't need *another* set of Grimdark-history-of-the-future-101. Moreover, since 5th edition is coming why bother with the BBB? BfM should be enough. Thanks!

Tis ok. And the fluff was better in the day and likewise the reason I stay around to buy this stuff.
Good luck with the Orks, they still kick plenty of ass.

Yeah, I was reading the new Ork codex, I got to the part about Mad Dok Grotsnik and I decided that I *had* to do an Ork army (I was previously thinking about going back to IG's) made up of hordes of Cyborks. Just too cool of an image and too awesome of a modeling opportunity to pass up.
