I've gotten a little tired of 'zilla lists for my Tyranids, and so wanted to try something new -- so the obvious answer was anime Eldar, of course.

I'm not terribly concerned with creating a maximized list, but I would like a good list that fields some of the models I think are cool (namely a Farseer and a Wraithlord).

1x Farseer, Fortune, Guidance, Spirit Stones
5x Pathfinder Rangers
3x Guardian Jetbike Squadron
1x Wraithlord, Bright Lance
1x War Walker, Scatter Laser, Shuriken Cannon

The idea is shooty models that are hard to kill via cover saves or just plain toughness w/ some fast models that can take points. Sorry no points list; don't have my book handy at the exact moment; unless I did my math wrong, it should be 496.

Thanks!

i'd drop the war walker for a 3 man wg squad w/ warlock or something like that.

Thanks for the reply. Would have posted sooner, but computer didn't like the Web site.

First, two corrections: Farseer also has a Singing Spear and the 'walker has Krak missiles, not Scatter Lasers.

Most units in the codex cost significantly more than the 'walker, which comes to 55 points (It's 30 +20 for the Krak missiles +5 for the Shuriken Cannon), and the list comes to 499.
The only other long-range heavy replacement for the 'walker in that price range is a Vibro Cannon crew, which shoots less and has less utility against MEQs and other high-armor models.

So, I know walkers aren't popular, but it seemed right in the list. I guess there's three questions about the walker I should be asking:
1) Is the wraithlord w/ a Bright Lance going to be enough heavy support? ie, is the 'walker extraneous?
2) Is the 'walker worth less than the +2 guardian bikes, 1 with Shuriken cannon or +2 pathfinders or Farseer upgrades?
3) Would the 121 points on the Guardian jetbikes + walker be better spent on a different troop choice?

Thanks again!

Ok, I know I bang on about this a bit, but if you want a shooting and combat squad, take the Dire Avengers, even in 5 man units with the exarch, with SS and PW of some kind. They hold better than jetbikes in combat, can do more damage in shooting and in combat, esp against MEQ's, and are more survivable. They only lose in the mobility stakes, and not by an enormous amount if you include fleet.

A couple of things. First off, what are you planing on doing with your farseer? He has fortune and guide. Fortune on the pathfinders makes them unkillable via shooting. However, guide doesn't do much for them since they hit on a 2+. The extra 50 points you spent on it could be better allocated elsewhere if that's your plan. On the other hand, fortune doesn't do much for the dreadnaught and does absolutely nothing for the war walker so if you are going to be guiding them, you can ditch fortune and the spirt stone and save 50ish points there.

Now your war walker needs work. First off, giving a war walker a shuriken cannon is a very very bad idea. The 24" range means that you are going to have to be fairly close to the enemy if you want to fire the weapon. And if you are close to the enemy, then you are going to be in range for the enemy to shoot back. The closer you are to the enemy, the more weapons that they will have in range to shoot you with. So with that said, never mount a gun with less than a 36" range on a war walker. They just can't take the return fire. Second off, you are mixing anti tank (sort of) weapons and anti infantry weapons on the same platform (which can only shoot at one target) so some of your shooting is going to waste almost every turn. If you want to take out hard targets but on twin bright lances or missile launchers (or one of each) but don't mix and match. If you want to kill troops, put on scatter lasers for light troops, star cannons for heavy troops, or a mix if you don't know what you will be up against (and have the points). All in all, I really like war walkers but in small scale games where you can't take squads of 3 due to point limitations, I'm not sure how well they will preform. In larger games, a squad of 3 war walkers with scatter lasers and/or star cannons will wipe out a squad every turn (particularly if a farseer is around to use guide on them). You may want to build towards this or you may not.
