We started a campaign last night and after the game my pal rolled up for 2 Bionic arms. In the rules it says they can replace injured limbs but is there anything to stop a person having his arm lopped off to accomodate the bionic? I let him take them anyway but just wondered.

Those rolls are the blue light specials that you find in the markets.

You found the arms in a pile of scrap that someone had in the back of thier truck or something. You don't nessesarily have to cut your own arms off. You found the arms, then if you ever lose them, you have them in the back of your gangs fort or under the bed or something just in case.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

What I mean is...

Can you start using it even without an injured arm (hence cutting your arm off to make room for it), or do you simply have to wait until someone injures their arm?

you can go to the doc shop and get your arm cut off. You can use it in the beginning, you just have to pay the credits for it.
They didn't have a roll for that. The Doc was only after the game, where in the post game phase you rolled for each of your injured, and some couldn't make it, depending on what was wrong with them. The doc also paid for the dead gangers for his dubious experiments with.l

Its up to you if you want to use it. I don't believe it ever came up in the rulebook.

Plus you are not necesarily cutting of your arm. It could be augmented in some way, perhaps with a metal exoskeleton that must be permanently attatched.

We always play that you can use bionics, even if you were not injured in the location.

Agreed. I've run several...and I do mean several...Necromunda campaigns and FLGS demos and tourneys. And if someone ever gets free bionics, or buys them at the outpost, ther is no reason why they cant start using them right away. Now depending on how picky your gaming group is, they may make you use an appropriately converted model. But in Necromunda your gang members and their equipment change so quickly that as long as everyone knew that the "ganger with the piece of sticky tape on it has a bionic leg" or whatever else...that it was OK with me as an arbiter.
