I wanted to start using an Inquisitor with Psycannon in my Gunline Space Marine army and was frustrated to find that there were very few psycannon models out there. I thought about buying the Grey Knight ones, but I wasn't really impressed with either and the GW site didn't really have the bits for sale. So, I dug around my trusty bit box.

My first idea was to stick with the HB theme. I had a Scout with HB and a HB for a Land Speeder lying around. I really thought about painting my scout up as a carapace armored Acolyte, but decided not to because, well, I wanted my inquisitor to be carrying his own gun. So, I dug deeper into the bit box.

I was using the Metal Coteaz model and that just doesn't leave a whole of options, but I found a pintle mounted storm-bolter from an old vindicator and decided that it just might work. I took pistol gripping hand bit from the new devastator kit and came up with this:

I decided I didn't like the bird too much, so I again turned to the Devastator Kit (great set btw. It's just loaded with bits). I took the pointy Sword Arm, cut it off a little above the elbow and glued it on. It doesn't quite match the artificer armor of the Coteaz model, but once it's painted, people aren't going to notice.

For the Retinue, I wanted 3 Heavy-Bolter Servitors, a sage, 2 mystics, and 2 Accolytes in Carapace Armor toting Bolters (Which are 1 point cheaper than Hellguns). I had intended to bit-order the heavy-bolter servitors, and then buy two of the Sanctioned-Psychers for the mystics, but the new bit-ordering process meant that I now have 3 repair servitors I didn't really want. Well, voila, servitor-mystics. The repair claws are, um, psychic amplifying antennas? I used the Cherub as the Sage because I think it's a really cool looking model. I used scouts as the acolytes. Ok, so without further adieu, here it is:

Looks pretty cool. I feel your pain about the servitors. I bought two of the blisters with the heavy bolters (after a few weeks trying to find them) and used one of the repair bots for a plasma cannon conversion. The sages I used an imperial fat man in a robe and the psyker from my avatar (because math is really hard, he has to think a lot.)

The psycannon thing was throwing me for fits too. I finally decided that it would either be very heavy bolter like, or so unique to the user that it could look like whatever I wanted. I think the key is to make it obvious it isn't a normal form of bolter (storm, standard, heavy etc.) Your choice looks pretty good in my book.

Do you have pics of your inquisitor, psycannon, and plasma conversion?

I have pics of the plasma conversion in my "Sisters of Battle By way of something or other" thread in the WIP Blogs section. The Inquisitor with psycannon is still in the metal and green stuff in my head stage. Witch Hunters aren't cool enough for psycannons apparently, so my Inq for that is just stock with scourging.
Note though that I happened to have a millenia old plasma cannon that I think originally belonged to an ork in my bitz box. I don't know that such things are still possible to find without Indiana Jones.

Why is the first image mirrored? When I saw it, I thought how did he do that?? Before realizing, it's just a mirror image.

Anyway, Effective little conversion, but I would've done a little more on the stormbolter. Custom barrels maybe and a new clip. It's supposed to be a very special gun, not borrowed from a rhino

lol! That had me cracking up.

The image is flipped because I took it with Photo Booth and forgot to flip it. As far as making it look fancier, I might tackle that in the future. I'm currently working on a couple of other projects.

You'll also notice that this storm bolter goes to 11. The ones you get on rhinos only go to 10.
