Thank you TMP
At last, we reveal the first production sprues for the ACW infantry. We've just got the printing of the boxes to go now, which shouldn't take too long, so we hope to hit our late March/early April deadline.

Please excuse the inane grins on all (including Terry Ardener's) faces, we were all a bit excited! Thanks to Terry and his team for making a pipe dream come true!

We've also included a picture of current greens for the supporting metal range, a pic of the amount of plastic in the box, and single sprue for better scrutiny.

News on this month's releases coming up soon.

I have decided I will be picking up a few of these boxes. Those look really nice (and not expensive).

3500 pts Iron Warriors
2500 pts World Eaters
1950 pts Emperor's Children
333 pts Daemonhunters

I've never been one for Historicals, but these look really nice. Maybe I've just been programmed to respond to plastic sprues by GW, but the plastics look really great. I can't really tell from the pics, but are those different heads and hats on the sprue? Depending on the scale, these could look really good as Empire Handgunners.

Yep, seperate hats and the option to leave heads bare for variety. Scale is 28mm, and as some have commented, a finer detail (probably a result of their work on the LOTR line, though the plastic cadians are relatively fine detailed for 'heroic' 28mm). For the 40k-minded, might make some interesting conversion fodder. For me, a box of infantry and a box of cavalry will be plenty for my VSF/GASLIGHT purposes.

How do the Perry Historicals stack up to GW stuff. I know that the perry's have been sculpting for GW for years, but seeing some of those historicals makes me want to convert them over to IG...is it possible??

I really hate to think that I'd get sucked into Historical gaming...I have too many miniatures already and my current move to OH is proving that over and over again!

Thanks,

The Perry's are very highly regarded by historical gamers.

Remember that historical miniatures are judged by realism and detail rather than heroic SF/Fantasy artistic concepts.

I realize that I've been brainwashed by GW such that what I consider to be weedy-looking historical models are actually realistic. And maybe it's the case that the Empire Handgunners and Spearmen weren't particularly Heroic 28mm, but these don't look as skinny as I'd expect them to - they look pretty comparable to the Empire models in size (not just height, but stockiness as well).

Well, the reason I ask is that I have seen conversions done with Empire plastics into IG and with the thread you started DBM, using woodelves and Cadians together for Tanith guard, I have just been trying to think outside the box a little.

I think Napoleonic themed guard would look cool as hell, and it would definitely fit in with a Iron Discipline, Close order drill, maybe go light infantry?? or maybe even mech, you could easily convert over some of the horsemen into Rough Riders...I guess I just saw a lot of potential in it.

Thanks,
Chappy P!

Oooh are they making Napoleonic plastics any time soon? I bought a handfull of their metal Nassau troops for a future (far future) Girl Genius themed conversion IG army I have been knocking around for some time. Plastics would really make that come together that much faster (because I don't have a back log of 75 models or so... *sigh*)

Oh, and Wehrkind? If your backlog is *only* 75 models, consider it a blessing. If I manage to paint a figure a day this year (which I'm already behind on), I'll consider myself in good shape.

It's just easier to grow the lead mountain.

TMP reports they're up for preorder and have painted pics. 36 for 12 UKP (about 24 US$), pretty darn good.

We are happy to announce that you can pre-order the first ACW plastic box set of figures from Perry Miniatures now. These contain 36 hard plastic ACW Infantry (which can be painted for either side), four flags and rules.

The introductory price is £12.00 GBP (until the end of the year), plus the normal P&P.

Just send your details through our secure page or by post, and we'll get them off to you A.S.A.P.

It looks like we're going to hit the late March/early April deadline, although there is a chance we might get them in a little earlier.

We've got the first painted samples back from Aly Morrison and Jim Bowen. We'll show more painted examples from other people soon as we get them in.

Sorry about the delay on getting the new lists/pictures up, I'm assured they will be up very soon!

These are actually quite good. 360 for 120£...

Are there any kind of rules that would be worth getting? Warhammer Historical Battles or something like that?

It would be a wonderful dream come true for a lot of people. (Not me, because I do 6mm Naps.)

The problem with Naps is the huge number of different uniforms just to cover one of the major armies. In comparison you can do ACW infantry with two basic uniforms -- a jacket or a coat -- and some variation heads with slouch hats, Hardee hats and forage caps.

Regarding the size of these figures, most metal historicals are slightly chunky compared to plastic. Two reasons -- metal being more bendy it's better slightly thicker, and realistic sizes tend to look a bit unrealistically weedy.

These figures are about as chunky as typical metals. The GW figs are just super-roids in comparison.
