Ok I'm a huge fan of manga & anime and I would love to make a mecha themed army. And the only 40k army that I think can properly pull this off is the Tau.

Now the bad part, I have no idea where to begin. Could some kind hearted soul possible point me in the direction of a site that could help me make my army come to fruition?

hello DriveByBaptism i'm not a tau player, But i have seen a few tau armys the biggest thing to use is battle suits, stealth suits etc. the reson i say that is the suit to me look like some anime mechs, and for your hammerheads you could model they like the tanks for ghost and a shell. thats my 2 cents bro good luck .

The hardiest steel is forged in battle and cooled with blood of your foes.

Yeah I was planning on using lots of battle suits (as many as I'm allowed) and do them mecha. It's more the troops that worry me.

I know nothing about anime. What if you found a different head in a suitable model kit to swap on the fire warriors?

I play

I will magnetize (now doing LED as well) your models for you, send me a DM!

Firewarriors are already pretty anime'd up, but if you really want anime themed minis, try Infinity miniatures and just get things that fit the proper size and weaponry of the army you are trying to make in 40k. Or hell just play Infinity...

Edit: In particular you will be interested in Pan Oceania and Yu Jing minis

how about CAV stuff - http://www.scifigenre.com/browse.aspx?sid=NL100000PT0YS1X&nSubCategoryID=135&nExpandToID=1220
a few years ago there was a guy in the US doing 28mm CAV resin models. I picked one up but can't remember the site. I converted mine up to have a monster rail gun and extended ion cannon (i think). Will post pickies this weekend

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Migsula's stuff yet. He's using mecha models, but is using the 'Nids rules for them (seemed impossibly counter-intuitive to me, but it works for what he has planned I guess.) You can check out pics here:

Edit: Doh - red x's of death removed.

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack

When the Tau were first released I couldn't stand their "greater good" and their overall anime look. I just didn't think it had a place in the dark, gothic, brooding, nothing but war universe of 40K. The only thing I could think of is they were trying to break into the Japanese market or something. I've lightened up over the years however. Anyway, back to the point, what I'd do is make some notes while watching a crap load of anime movies. Note some of the common: vehicle colors, markings, poses, etc, or any of said which appeal to you. Then, keep that in mind when painting, putting together, converting, etc. Hope this helps!
