Hey guys,
I am currently working on a gaming board but I cannot find any gravel or sand to texture it. Anyone know where I can find some? I would need either fine grain or medium grain sand and/or gravel. Thanks.

your neighbor have kids?... maybe a sandbox in the back yard? How about your local playgrounds.. any beach volley ball courts or sand pits for kids?... i dont know of many parks that dont have some kind of sand or fine gravel for the kids to skin their knees on.

If you're really all about going out and buying some sand, check your local DIY store. Home Depot, Lowes, etc. They have 50 pound bags of sand on the cheap. But 50 pounds is a bit excessive for modeling use x.x.

mine is a mix of modelling sand, model railway ballast, crushed bricks from a building site and sand i picked up while on holiday in Barcelona, Spain.

Most home improvement stores also carry textured paint for walls and ceilings. A coat of that will paint up nicely, and then you can add more flock/gravel/sand as desired.

Textured paint is what I use normally. Though I use some sand/gravel to build up some areas before I get started with the paint. Here's a quick pic from my foothills table:
