Odds are that I'm moving out to Denver in August and I was hoping that someone could tell me what the gaming scene is like out there. I play 40k, but recently the local crowd has gotten into Confrontation. It looks fun, but i don't want to invest in an army if no one plays it in Colorado. What kind of scene/leagues are the mountains harboring?

Check out Valhalla's Games (6161 W. 44th Ave., Wheatridge), nice staff, great big gaming area, play a lot of 40k, or they did before I moved to Georgia, all around pretty awesome. Two words of warning, though: 1) They share their parking lot with a dance studio, don't park in the spaces reserved for them unless you want a face full of angry ballet-mom, 2) arrive early for game night, i.e. if it's scheduled for 7 p.m., people will be paired off at 6:30, set up at 6:45, and playing by 7. Also go to Chubby's (160 Federal Blvd, Denver) afterwards for the best Mexican fast food, EVAH. Remember to try the Green Chili and lock your doors.

Where in the Denver area are you moving to? There are a number of game stores around. The two big systems out here are warmachine & GW, with warmachine probably holding the edge in popularity. There is also a smattering of flames of war, AT-43, and other games.

Here in Denver we are lucky to have two good sized RTTs each year. One at Ghengiscon in Febuary and one at Tachticon in August/September. They draw about 50 players.

I'm not sure where in Denver I'll be living. My gf (soon to be fiance) got into the Masters of Architecture Program at CU Denver, so we'll be living within driving distance from that. A lot of where we live is where I get a job. I'm done with my MPA in August, so I'll be looking for municipal jobs out there. We'll see where we end up.

We'll be living with her parents for a couple of months. They live in SE Denver near City Park.

Attactix would probably be a closer location from City Park than Valhallas, though I'm not sure whether they're mostly 40k or Warmachine. You might want to go to the GW site and find their list of independent stores.

You might want to take a look at the RTTs in Colorado Springs. We have a very good RTT scene, and a tourney almost as big as Ghengis Con at the Air Force Academy, and we are about an hour away.

I'm moving into my new apartment on Monday. I'm going to be living in the Tech Center area. Attactix is only about 5 miles away. I think I'll check them out.

If you have any luck at Attactix, let me know. That is the shop most local to me and I have had abysmal luck in getting a game of either WM or WFB scheduled. Could be I am just looking at all the wrong times, but its been damn depressing.

in boulder there is a store called Karlinquin's Game Knight. he sells all sorts of games. local owned. there's 40k on saturdays. most people show up at 2-3:30, but i'm usually there by 1:30. we have eldar, tau, daemonhunters, and some imperial guard, though he hasn't shown up for a while... i play chaos. 30-45 minutes from downtown denver. Karl, the owner has boards, tables and an intimidating amount of terrain. best store in boulder when it comes to 40k.

I used to play at the GW store in Colorado Mills, but since its untimely demise at the end of July I've been playing more at Valhallas. They have decent boards and pretty good terrain, and do upkeep it reasonably well. The playing level (for 40k at least) is generally middle to high, with some beginners. Never been to Attactix, though it's on my list. Ghengiscon/Tacticon are both reasonably large RTTs with some pretty decent players.
