Setup
The army of Khorne had previously fought and defeated the mechanical Necrons their last two battles, but Khorne demanded blood be spilt. With the Necrons there was no blood for the Blood God, nor Skulls for the Skull throne. In order to appease his bloodthirsty god, Raging Bull scoured the local planets until he found exactly what he was looking for: Orks!
Raging Bull did not try to hide his presence as he approached the Ork fortress. He halted his army not far outside the gates, in what appeared to have once been imperial bunkers. He directed his Landraider and two Rhinos to take position at the edge of the forest. He positioned himself in the center of his army, ready to swoop at the first target he could find.
Boss Slargo and his Nobz sped outside the gates of his might fortress, and set up at the other end of the forest, not far from the Land raider (although he did not know this as it was hidden on the other side). He ordered his Lootas and one group of Shootas onto the walls, and had the other Shootas positioned far from the battle so they could secure the other side of the fort. The Deff Dread, Slugga Boyz, and two units of Storm Boyz took up positioned behind the Shootas and Lootas, ready to counter any attack chaos sent at them.
The drums of battle began to beat. On one side of the battlefield “FOR CHAOS! BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GODS….SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!” could be heard as the insane followers of Khorne stirred themselves into a fury. That battle cry was answered simply with “WAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!”

Turn 1
Raging Bull easily grabbed the initiative for this battle and did not hesitate the slightest. He sent the Landraider full of Berskers, and the two Rhinos to travel along the forest. He jumped into the middle of the forest himself. He kept the Banner Marines inside a crater with the defiler behind them and the Obliterators on top of a bunker. The adjusted its position defiler took aim at the Shoota Boyz on the wall. Its aim was off after moving, and the boyz took no harm. The Banner Marines shot their lascannon at the Ork trukk, but missed. The Obliterators fired 3 lascannons of their own at it, but only managed to destroy the big shoota and stun the crew. None the less the Boyz jumped out as they waited for the inevitable explosion.
Boss Slargo revved his engine and headed around the forest, his Nobz following close behind. With a mixture of shock and glee, he found himself playing chicken with a Landraider. Big Loo stationed himself beside a number of huts. The Deff Dread exited the fort and headed right for the forest. The Shoota boyz at the far end of the fort headed for to the far side of the base to set up a firing position. The Storm Boyz held back and waited to see what was going to happen. The Shoota boyz were well out of range of any attackers, as was the Dred. Big Loo fired his Shock Attack Gun at the Obliterators, but missed spectacularly. Much to their anger, the Lootas found the Dred blocked much of their line of site, and didn’t have any targets to fire at. Boss Slargo charged the Landraider, and was able to destroy one of its tracks. Out came the crazy red marines with chain axes and bolt pistols. “Now dis is a prapa fight!” Slargo remarked.

Turn 2
The two rhinos adjusted their positions. The Berserkers moved a little closer, ready to charge at the Ork warbikes. They kept to the side though, since the Landraider had nearly a point blank shot at the Boss and his Nobs. The Obliterators took 3 lascannon shots at Big Loo, leaving only a smoking crater where he had been previously been standing. The Defiler shot at the Shoota Boyz again, and although the wall took a good amount of damage…2 boyz still fell. The Banner Marines also shot at the boyz, and a lascannon took out one more. The Landraider shot at the bikes and seemingly hit the bikes…but the dust that was kicked up played tricks with the sites and all the bikes were still around. Both Rhinos opened up on the Lootas, but only hit the wall. Finally the warp seemed to seep from the nothingness, and two squads of Bloodletters emerged.
The sounds of laughter could be heard from the Deff Dread, believing they had completely forgotten about him. This laughter was cut short as the Daemon Prince charged at it, completely annihilating it. A huge explosion ripped from the wreckage, but the Prince was unaffected. The Berserkers charged the Warbikes, and managed to hit and wound three times. The Bloodletters also attacked, but could not pierce the tough hides of the orks. The Painboy went to work though, and patched up 2 of the wounds. The Orks retaliated and took out 1berserkers and 3 Bloodletters. The fearless Berserkers and Demons refused to budge.
The Shoota boys continued their march across the back of the fort. Storm Boyz jumped over the walls and prepared to charge. The Slugga boyz jumped back into the trukk, which also sped across the fort to reinforce the other side. The sound of WAAAGGGHHH! could then be heard, and the Orks worked themselves into a frenzy. The Shootas in the back of the fort and the Storm Boyz surged forward. Meanwhile the Shoota boyz on the wall unloaded everything they had at the Daemon Prince. 3 hits deeply hurt the Prince, and suddenly it felt that charging the wall may not have been a great idea. The Lootas let loose at the Berserker Rhino, and detonated it under a storm of bullets. 5 Berserker bodies were torn apart, and the rest were pinned under the wreckage.
One group of the Storm Boyz slammed into the Bloodletters while the other squad hit the Daemon Prince. The Prince was able to score 2 kills, but only 4 Stormboyz were able to strike back. No wounds were scored, so this battle continued. Meanwhile the Warboss/Nobz/Stormboyz vs Berserkers/Bloodletters fought on. At the end of this round 3 Stormboyz slaughtered, 1 Nob wounded, 4 Berserkers crushed, and 7 Bloodletters were dead. The fearless still refused to run, and the fight continued.

Turn 3
Raging Bull had seriously underestimated the Nobz and the Warboss. He had intended to hold back the Possessed for assault on another unit, but realized he had no choice but to attack now. He moved them from the Rhino and prepared for the assault. With little need to maneuver more, the forces of Chaos simply unloaded on the Orks. The Defiler shot a cannon blast at the Lootas, killing 2. The Obliterators shot 3 plasma rounds at the Shootas in the back of the base, killing 5. The Banner Marines unloaded on the Slugga Boys, blowing up the Trukk and killing 7. Although the boyz held, they were no longer considered a threat by chaos and were filed under “cleanup later”. Finally the sole surviving Rhino shot at the Lootas, but failed to kill a single one.
Raging Bull swung his deadly axe back and forth, but succeeded only in killing on more Storm Boy. They fought back with furious anger, and very little was recognizable of Raging Bull when they were done. The might Daemon Prince had fallen at last. The Possessed charged into the battle with Slargo and his Nobz. Between the Possessed, the Bloodletters, and the Berserkers; 4 Storm Boyz flayed open, 2 Nobz fell and the Slargo had taken 1 wound. In return they whittled the Berserkers down to 2, took out 3 Possessed, and killed all but 3 Bloodletters. The Battle was still going for the Orks, but the tide was slowly turning.
The Storm Boyz who had killed the Prince had decided the Banner Marines needed to pay. They moved as far as their rokkit packs would take them. The Shoota boyz in the back of the fort ran into cover, safely out of range of the Obliterators. The Shoota Boyz on the fort wall then opened up on the Banner Marines, but failed to even wound one. The Lootas took as many shots at the Obliterators as they could, and although many rounds hit none could penetrate the armor. The Prince killing Storm Boyz then charged at the Banner Marines while Slargo continued his mad attacks atop a mountain of bodies.
The Storm Boyz and Banner Marine battle was deadly, both sides hitting hard. When the dust settled, only the Nob and 3 boyz survived. The battle with Boss Slargo also reached its bloody climax. Blood rained down like a waterfall for what seemed like eternity. When this battle was over, Boss Slargo’s body lay crumpled under a broken tree and only 2 Nobz survived. However only 2 Possessed Marines remained, but was too crazed to even consider fleeing.

Turn 4 – 5 – 6
The biggest battle was over, and little remained to do this day.
The remaining Berserkers who had survived the Rhino explosion charged into the Nobz. Between them and the 2 Possessed, the Nobz fell without inflicting another casualty. The Possessed then surged forward while the Berserkers went back. It was up to the Lootas to decide the fate of this section. The tried to shoot the Berserkers, but the boyz got trigger happy and decided to shoot the closest targets. The Possessed went down in a hail of bullets. The Possessed Rhino then moved forward and blocked the line of sight on the Berserkers. It shot at the Lootas and ended up killing 3 more by the games end.
The Shoota boys next to the Lootas were still well above 50% at the start of this round. However 3 rounds of being shot at by Obliterators and one cannon shot from the Defiler put them at a mere 9 by game’s end.
And what of that crazy Defiler you may ask? Well on its 4th round it moved close to the remaining Storm Boyz who had just killed the Banner Marines. It charged them, killing the 3 Boyz. It was up to the Nob with the Power Klaw now. It swung 4 times…and missed 4 times!! He fled combat and was run down by the Defiler.
The last round of the game, the Defiler send one last cannon round into the Lootas. It was an awesome hit, and brought them down to 7. While they did not flee, they could not hold a table section.

End Result: Chaos wins – 2 table quarters to 1

The scent of burnt wood and charred bodies saturated the air. The few orks who had survived the battle had fled, leaving their fort for Chaos. With little need for such crude structures, the whole place was set ablaze. The wounded were executed, and their bloody skulls were offered to Khorne.
Berserker Champion Lasterus sat atop the mountain of bodies in front of the broken Landraider. “Bring me the worthless head of the disgusting Ork chief.” He demanded. Although the area where his body was thrown was known to all, the body itself could not be found. Tread marks could be seen leading into the forest, but no sign of the boss was found. With a cry of fury, the Champion vented his anger at the closest Berserker, crushing the trooper with his power fist. With that a sickly red mist covered the area and Chaos was gone from the land…for now.

Final Thoughts on this Game
This is one of those games we will be talking about for a very long time, mainly because of the battle with the Ork Boss. We did the math and that battle netted a total of 58 bodies in an area roughly 10 inches in diameter. My Buddy, who is an extremely experienced player, totally underestimated how deadly Nobz with a Painboy could be. Hindsight being 20/20, he would have sent the Possessed and the Prince in early to rip them apart faster. This was game deciding factor 1 or 3.
2 of 3 occurred when my Lootas failed to make their leadership test to shoot at the Berserkers instead of the Possessed. He only had 5, so I needed only to kill one to secure that table edge. I failed the test, and he hid them from my sight. Cowardly but effective.
3 of 3 was the Defiler vs the Nob. I had 4 swings and rolled all 1s and 2s!!! I was ticked. But that is how the game works sometimes.
We had a great time and look forward to a rematch. Hope you enjoyed the Battle of Bloody Mountain!

You say: "He had intended to hold back the Possessed for assault on another unit, but realized he had no choice but to attack now. He moved them from the Rhino and prepared for the assault. He moved them from the Rhino and prepared for the assault." Did the Possessed disembark from the Rhino in Turn 3?

Also, for Ork-speak I suggest watching "Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels", and "Snatch", back to back with particular attention to Vinnie Jones.

The Possessed disembarked from the Rhino during his movement phase on turn 3, and charged in at the assault phase. The Rhino had not moved this turn if that is what you are wondering.

I also highly recommend watching Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels as well as Snatch, just for pure entertainment value. Brilliant movies.
