So I finally managed to get a good look at the Dark Angels book today, and I was rather surprised considering all of the things I've heard people say about it. In particular, the Dark Angel psychic powers didn't seem bad at all (Mind Worm in particular looks nasty!), but I noticed that the Hellfire power is kind of labour intensive. In casting it you'd need to roll a minimum of 5 dice, ignoring the to-wound and save dice that might be rolled. So here's what I figured as an alternate house rule:

A torrent of searing flames pour forth from the Librarian's eyes and mouth, engulfing the target in its own personal Hell!

This power can be used in the Librarian's Shooting phase instead of firing a weapon. As normal, the Librarian must pass a Psychic test. The result of the psychic test is the Strength on the following profile, while the result of the lowest die result is the AP on the following profile.

Range: Template, Strength: As Psychic Test, AP: As Psychic Test (lowest), Type: Assault 1

Seems reasonable to me. Kind of like how Dark Heresy deals with hit locations based on your to hit roll.

Threads should be like skirts: long enough to cover what's important but short enough to keep it interesting.

That seems fine to me, as well.

Kind of funny that you'd usually be hoping for something like 5-6 Strength, to have a better AP value, as opposed to Strength 9-10...

I thought it worked nicely to off-set the possibility of a S9-10 Template weapon, while making the S2-5 Template weapon better than really useless. Ideally you'd want a S7-8 hit, with the dice either 1+6, 2+5, 3+5, 2+6, or 3+4. Seeing as these are the most likely results on 2D6 (the 7 or 8 I mean), it seemed appropriate.
