hey, im new to wh 40k as a game tho ive been collecting the miniatures for about a year and a half now, and i love it. i love picking sweet looking units, i love assembling them and painting them, and playing the game is just great. anyways, i actually had a question that i didnt know where else i should post it so i appreciate ur help, i heard in passing of other companies besides games workshops that do non or semi-official wh40k stuff, do you guys know their names or how their products work in terms of game play? if you know some websites or company names that would be great. thanks for the help!

What exactly are you looking for?
Weapons
Character models
Specific races/styles
Stuff probably specifically intended for 40k

Ah, I see.
Companies wouldn't be able to release unofficial rulesets
that you could use for 40k as they'd get sued for something
or other (not too caught up on legalese).
However, some companies make models that you could use
in the game such as Metropolis's Junkers

If you're into pre-painted non-collectible stuff, there's
Rackham's AT-43 models. You could use Striders as
Necrons, and Red Blok as Imperial Guard:

Zombiesmith has a race of models called The Quar

Ollys Armies has Scrunts (a nod to the extinct Squats)

Pig Iron Productions has great heads you can use, or
trenchcoat infantry for a stormtrooper/imperial guard
army

West Wind Productions have a separate head system
as well as neato alternate reality World War 2 models

There are some unofficial army lists floating around. Some of them are pretty good:
Adeptus Mechanicus
Genestealer Cults
and our very own Lost and the Damned army.
