Alex Finnel(sp?) is the name of the guy. I played him twice last year. Last round of the Gladiator w/my LatD and last round of the RTT w/my Death Guard. Great guy, tons of fun, and he painted the CSM in Strawberry Shortcake theme, not because of a girlfriend, wife, or daughter.

Gotta ask why Alex of Mongoose Publishing seems to spend so much time playing and travelling to GW-related events ??

And is the silly pink his way of diminishing the coolness of GW armies ? Is it a slight at the "manliness" of the spikey-bad marines and the undead robots of the Grim Darkness of the 41st Millenium ??

How does it diminish their coolness? His “Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots” Necron army is pure fun. It doesn’t affect someone else’s dead serious Necron army in any way.

GW has always had a sense of humor. At times it’s hidden a lot more than at others, but “We’ll be Back” is a direct Arnold Schwarzenegger Terminator joke. In chatting with Phil Kelly this weekend we discussed the new Ork codex and the great sense of fun and humor it has. He wrote most of the fluff and silly jokes in there. So GW’s definitely still got some self-awareness of the humorous side of the 41st millennium.

I played your boy Paul and his Godzilla Nids at the Invitational at Adepticon. When he said that he was from Philly I asked him if he knew you.

He is a good player...maybe a little too good.

When you see a pink army your 1st reaction is to underestimate them because they're not a "serious army". I'm guessing that's exactly what he wants.

Because some of us probably laugh at how seriously 40k takes itself. Personally I only see pink necrons frolicking with daisy orcs and holding hands with pretty marines in 40k. Then again my Tau army will be full of colorful pilot jockeys on a rainbow parade being supported by SERIOUS cityfighting dudes so I'm probably the wrong person to comment.

It seems my sarcasm was a little too obscure ;-)

I've met Alex and he is a really nice guy. I've teased him about playing with the competition's models because Mongoose couldn't get theirs geared up

He mentioned that he thought the "Dark Future" of the 40K Universe was too dark and needed to be a bit brighter !!

And, apparently, he got a good deal on pink paint since he has two armies painted with it

Excellent. Sometimes I get it, sometimes I don't, but I figure I throw enough darts on a wall and some will stick.

I hope he has aspirations for another army. Someone needs to make a dapper Ork army with tophats (for nobs), canes (CCW), and monocles for lootas and flash gitz. I'd make it myself but I decided to go with a SERIOUS dave taylor ww1 army.
