The sink.

A friend of mine taught me something important the other day. I really like armies that shoot well. Especially what he called mid-range shooting armies. That's why I really enjoy playing CSM and in Fantasy I enjoy Skaven. I also own a Hordes of Chaos army, and everytime I play it, I get annoyed by the lack of ... shooting and support units, which Skaven has in scads.

At the same time I really really dig anything chaos. I love chaos warriors and knights, skaven, dragon ogres, cultists, etc.

I'm considering a next army for 40k and Fantasy. I thought about Sisters of Battle (great models, good shooting), and Wood Elves (great models, even better shooting). Then another friend got the Demon Spearhead today.

And I totally want to do a Demon army even though it's not my playstyle. My friend is right, I like shooting. I love killing knights from 3 feet away and shooting the pie template. With a 40k demons army I'd be exposed on my first turn to all kinds of badness and it would drive me nuts that I can't shoot with most of the units ... But I like them anyway! Hence the thread title.

What do I do?!

Play Demons in WHFB where you can go Tzeench and take shooting Flamers and tons of Magic Missile support units.

Usually it’s best to go with an army that excites you and stimulates you into painting it. But play style is certainly a big deal. As Voodoo said, you might get both playing Tzeentch. In 40k you can field three Soulgrinders, can’t you? AV13 will survive a little longer than a Defiler, and you can throw down some shots with them. Nurgle and Slaanesh (IIRC) also have some cool shooting phase powers.

Tzeentch for sure. I play a Tzeentch-heavy army in WHFB, and it's quite shooty.
