Flashy Flashgitz

So I had my first game of 40k in what seems like years yesterday. I hadn't realised how much of the game's ruleset I'd forgotten - thankfully my opponent was kind enough to point out my more glaring errors.
Anyway, it was a 1500pt game, my Orks vs. an Eldar Army. I'll give you the approximate army listings, but before I do: I know that my army is anything but competitive. There are a few units in there that I'm well aware are a waste of points. Thing is, I haven't got a huge amount painted up yet, so ended up using everything I have - plus a few unpainted minis, which I hate doing. So anyway:
ORKS
HQ - Warboss, Bike, PK, Cybork Body, Slugga, Attack Squig (grot bike!)
Big Mek - Cybork Body, 'Eavy Armour, KFF
Elites
6 Tankbustas (I know, stupid), Nob, Tankhammer, 2 Bomb Squigs
8 Burna Boyz (stop groaning, it hurts my brain)
5 Nobz, PK, Eavy Armour, a selection of big choppas/shootas/sluggas, Trukk
Troops
30 Boyz, PK Nob, 2 Big Shootas, Rokkit Launcha
12 Boyz, Nob, Big Shoota, Trukk
Fast Attack
8 Stormboyz
7 Bikes, PK Nob
Wartrak, Twin Rokkit Launcha
Heavy Support
Killa Kan, Rokkit Launcha
Killa Kan, Rokkit Launcha
Killa Kan, Big Shoota
This came to about 8pts shy of 1500.
Eldar:
HQ - Farseer, Doom, Mind War, Singing Spear, psychic gubbinz
Jain Zar
Elites
10 Banshees, Exarch, Mirrorswords, Waveserpent, Twin EML
10 Scorpions, Exarch, Scorpion's Claw, Waveserpent, Twin EML
Troops
10 Dire Avengers, Exarch, Bladestorm
10 Dire Avengers, Exarch, Bladestorm
Fast Attack
Vyper Jetbike, Shuricannon, Scatter Laser
(Possibly two of these? I forget)
Heavy Support
War Walker, Bright Lance, EML
War Walker, Bright Lance, EML
I'll be honest, my hopes weren't high - especially when, on the first turn, my Tankbustas ran off the table (as one might expect), then on my second turn, the Warbikes bounced off the front of the Scorpion waveserpent, got shot up by Dire Avengers with alarming efficiency, then got countercharged by Scorpions and wiped out.
The big unit of Boyz was interesting. Very difficult to rout, especially under the KFF. Difficult to move them through dense terrain, though. The Nob had some fun when a Wave Serpent got immobilised in front of him - he leapt aboard with reckless abandon, got four penetrating hits, killed six of his own mob and around the same number of Aspect warriors - including the Banshee exarch!
Things I learned from this game: Stormboyz in a larger mob would be very effective - I managed to keep two alive after being shot up, rolled snakeeyes for LD, and tied up an entire unit of Dire Avengers.
Killa Kans are FUN. They managed to get off a few good shots. One of the funniest parts of the game involved a waveserpent plowing an arm and a leg off one of my Kans, the Mek bolting a new leg on, and the Kan and Waveserpent doing a weird little dance along my table edge. The Kan managed to get revenge by taking the Serpent's EMLs off before dying.
Warboss on a bike exceeded all my expectations. Where most of my units tied units up or got in a few lucky shots, he tore through half the army on his own. He pretty much singlehandedly killed the entire Scorpions unit, shot down a Vyper, killed a DA unit, the Farseer, most of the Banshees, wounded Jain Zar (before a Kan took her head clean off), blew up a War Walker and ended the game in sweeping advance range of the second one! He took two wounds from Jain Zar, but otherwise shrugged off an insane amount of damage thanks to T6 and a Cybork Body.
I managed to get a draw, and apparently was 2points off a win! If I hadn't forgotten my objectives (recon!) I might have won it. As it is, I got a bit too into the mindset, and just charged stuff. If I was sensible I wouldn't have charged Jain Zar with my Boss... but what kind of Ork would that make me, eh?
