Here is a pic of the old Goliath Gangers from the Necromunda boxed set (old stuff) These sculpts are lame and the minis are pretty ugly all around.

Here is my challenge: Can I possibly convert and paint these guys to be reasonably cool in 2 10 man squads that will fit with my traitorguard? Something that I won't be embarrassed to put on the table.

I need any ideas and inputs to make these 2 squads look good..... I need ALOT of help here. Thanks

I think you can do it. Armor, and getting rid of those nasty heads would do wonders for those guys. Right now they just look kinda.......gay? I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

I think the models look fine, though some weapon and head swaps will add variety...

Anyone know of any arms or legs that are of a similar scale? If I could find something similar, I could do some leg and arm swaps.

Those models are pretty much abortions (competing with the dark eldar wytchs for most homosexual minis ever made) but I've also thought of doing the same thing with them. The idea of a head swap is a good one, I've also thought of using ork or catachan arms with them but I don't know if any amount of modeling will get those guys to not look like leather bar rejects.

By the time you go cutting stuff up,switching parts out and makeing it all look good you would be better off getting the new Goliath figs. They are much better and much more suited to the role you want for them.

Yeah, I know I could just get other minis. I have hundreds in my bitz box. But this is a "Challenge" that I have been tasked with. A true test of convertyness and skill to make two decent looking squads from this utter crap minis. Thats the trick of it all...... how the heck am I gonna do it?

Here is what I have come up with so far on the Goliaths. They have kinda turned into renegade techguard or something similar. They are about 90% done now.

Awesome conversion work. Not so sure I like the Skeletor head, though.

Plus, his thumb is not behind the pistol grip. That will likely never be noticed on the table, though.

yeah I guess they're OK.

But only if you're into totally awesome stuff!!!one!!!

Great job. As the owner of 3 fully converted IG armies I appreciate anyone who puts so much effort into the most worthless troops in the game.

The Skeletor head is my least favorite, butit may be better when painted. I didn't notice the thumb.. I'll have to do some snipping.

yeah.... I been staring at dem feets and thinking they need some changes...... I have also added some straps for the chestplates and some couplings/housings on some of the hoses now. I may add some random rivets too.

I may do something with them.

I also found 8 and 1/2 more of them in my bitz boxes and I think I can stretch that out to another ten man squad.

I just want to have a buncha pre-primed conversions to work on when I'm all missing kidneys and Kemo-ed up. I think the drugs and stuff would be great for doing conversions then but I think I won't be mobile to get to my bitz. :( So only painting for me. I may actually get the whole army painted by the time I'm on my feet and invincible again.

I may need to invest in a bitz fetcher to run and grab specific bits from my hobby room. Maybe I can sit in bed with a little bell or something

I like the rag-tag look of looted weapons and armour and old rusty cybernetics/mechanicals on the bodies. I have been reading Scourge the Heretic and Dark Adeptus in the past weeks. Dark Mechanicus/chaos techguard have just been in my mind.

Well I must say, you've improved the look of them greatly. Sounds like what I need to do to get rid of all the extra unpainted models that've been sitting in my box for 9+ years.

definitely a different take on the old traitor guard. i like this a lot, nice simple conversions from quite slaaneshi looking guys to begin with to get something completely unique. hope to see moreYAY!

I have also scrounged up 30+ of the old necromundan Orlock Plastics that came with the box set. I'll post a pic of what they look like as soon as I get my camera back. I want to do a similar challenge with them. They are even more static than the goliaths, but the are proportioned a whole lot better.

You could build amazing conversions out of anything, nemissary. Great work. The varied gear makes the Pig Iron heads look even better, too.

And best of luck with the surgery etc., man.

Thanks Savnock

I have rounded up the last of my Goliaths and I'm about 50% done converting them. That makes 30 of them! I have sawed some of them in half and then glued them back in varying stages of turning the torso to mix up some of the posing... I wish I had done this to more of them before I glued so much stuff on them. I also went back and shaved the boots down on all of them so they don't have bozo the clown feet.

I'm determined to get those 30 orlocks converted up in a week also.... man I have alot to do hehe I think it will worth it to have 60 custom traitorguard minis made from scraps and some of the most horrible plastics of Necromunda. Then I will return to working on some of the more modern minis and whatnot.

So I wasn't totally with you on this one Nem, figured you should just find some other models and work from there.

But then I saw what you did with the ugly old gangers and DAMN was I wrong again. Great conversions all over the place, props to you on pulling out some awesome from those couple ancient sculpts

Chaos marauder might give you some bitz to mix and match with the goliaths. Maybe use them as some sort of conscripts (if you're using IG rules).

That's some bitchin' conversion work, and even more so when you compare to the originals! Those old Goliaths look like Zippy the Pinhead.
