hello all. i am wanting to know everyones feelings on this daemon codex. I mean now you can play bloodletters led by a lord of change...... dam how un-fluff like is that i personally hate the idea of seeing multi-daemon god armies sure some worlds are daemon planets but in how much fluff have you read of a world inhabited by more than one chaos power.....boy i can't wait to see whats next guess after billions of years of war amongst themselves the chaos gods had a peace summit and decided to focus on the real enemy ...... yeah makes perfect sense.......

I think you are looking for the Discussion forum or at the least add to the previous Demon World rumor thread instead of creating a new one.

Doesn't sound like you really want to know what anyone thinks. Looks like you've made up your mind already. Sad, since the codex has some great stories and fluff in it, interesting rules, and some great modeling opportunities. But, if you have a lot more fun griping about a codex that isn't out yet, that's up to you. Everyone plays, or not plays, the game a bit differently.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.

I'm looking forward to it, the fantasy version at least. Hoping I can use stuff from it to finally finish my kroot beastman army.
Gonna get the 40k book too, so I can hopefully mix in the demons I buy for fantasy into a bigger marine/demon apoc army instead of just using the generic summoned demons.
I have yet to read either, but I'm sure I'll enjoy both

You know, to the OP, Tzeentch and Khorne aren't in opposition, though they certainly are not best buds. Khorne's traditional enemy is Slaanesh. Bloodletters, by fluff generally, would attack a KoS before following, but might be persuaded to follow a LoC if the situation is right. Even then, there are examples of all the gods cooperating and getting their children to go along, at least temporarily.
I have read of worlds that are not just one chaos god. Not all demon worlds are singularly owned so there probably are planets with multiple Gods and on them their Demon Princes and other emissaries, sometimes of the same patron, fight each other.
Just so there is no confusion, the gods that hate each other are thus:
Khorne hates Slaanesh (and vice versa)
Tzeentch hates Nurgle (and vice versa)
Malaal hates them all, but he's a punk and everyone ignores him so he goes and sits under a lampost and tries not to cry but still kinda does so he sits there smoking his cigarettes trying to look tough but mostly looks sad and bitter and hopes that someone will paint an army with his color scheme and bring him back to the main universe. Also, Squats.

I had a lot of problems with the daemons being buddy buddy at first, but I have to say I got past it. A friend of mine told me to think of it more like D&D or something with a big Daemon army invading and I was able to put aside all the old prejudices I had.
I played my first game with the 40K codex last night, 1750 pts vs. Necrons. I screwed up a few things (the Nurgle Daemons being Slow and Purposeful was forgotten on the charges - I thought it was only during the regulart Movement phase). So we'll have to have a rematch. I won the game and I took a good bit of damage. The Bloodletters were the stars with their Hellblades. I had two Daemon Princes in the army as well that dished out some serious damage. The lack of shooting in the army is hard to get used to, though Horrors and Flamers can pump out a lot of shots!
In all, I like the army list a great deal and I am even more psyched to try it out in Warhammer.

I miss the days of 2nd Ed. where the daemons of rival gods Hated each other in the rules. Seems a bit odd that they'd go back on established fluff but it makes sense from a business perspective as it allows more variety in pure daemon armies and makes the army appear more attractive from a gaming standpoint.

The other nice thing is that it avoids the need to have (effectively) 4 different armies in the book, as each god would otherwise have to be completely (independently) viable.
My only concern is the number of viable lists that can come out of the book, but I'm reserving judgement for a while - not nearly enough experience/results to rely on just yet.

The long and short of it is this: Fantasy demons are super powerful, along the same lines as Vampire Counts. 40k demons appear to be lacking the power to be truly good, due mostly to their unreliable deployment.

I don't know if I'd go "superpowerful" - they do, however, look like the best-available counter to VCs. Blue-scribes + Magic Banner of no-necromancy-for-you is a winning combination.
Me & my 5th ed crabwomen are looking forward to trying out the list.

Chaos is, well, CHAOTIC. Sure, sometimes they fight each other. Sometimes they fight TOGETHER. Sometimes they play checkers. There's just no telling. I have no problem with some flexibility in the list, personally, and plan to have Bloodletters lead by a Lord of Change myself.

Yeah, the old idea of a pantheon of Gods with strict rules about who was friends with who at all times was, well, boring. Contrived and boring.
The idea of complex, shifting relations with temporary alliances and betrayal is a lot more interesting and a lot closer to the ancient myths heavenly pantheons like those of the Greeks and Romans.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

You could always put opposing demons in armies together, it wasn't that black and white (Malaal be praised). Even with the hatred there are still stories of united Chaos armies on occasion. All that happened in second edition, can't recall the Lost and Damned and Slaves to Darkness take on it atm, was that if they came within 12" of each other they had to take an animosity test or something along those lines. At least I think that was it. Now I have to go dig out the stuff.
