I didn't have a camera with me (this time) so I don't have any sweet picks of the horrible terrain we use. This was only my second and third game so I have no skill. And with that here is my list!

HQ: DP, MoS, LoS, Wings
HQ: Chaos Sorc, MoS, LoS
Troops: 6x CSM, flamer
Troops: 6x CSM, flamer, Aspiring Champ with power weapon

The Necron list (I know nothing about Necrons so this might be a little vague).

HQ: Necron Lord, hover thing (treated as jetbike)
Troops: 10x Warriors
Troops: 10x Warriors

The first game the board was set up with two small patches of terrain in the top left and bottom right (My opponent set these pieces). I set up a building in the bottom left quadrant on the line to the top left and I also laid a large piece of terrain on the edges of the cent in the top right. So overall the board is pretty sparse but it's how he and I like it.

We roll for mission and it's objectives. There are five objectives and he places first so there are three along lines he can quickly reach and I place one in the bottom right corner and directly behind the building. I set up my Sorc with my Champ squad on the right side of the board near one of the objectives and my DP next to my other squad behind the building. My Opponent set up in two lines out in the open close to the objectives with his lord. I win first turn and decide to fly my DP up and over the building and have my base squad come up on the left side of the building. I move the second squad up with the Sorc to try and get closer to the fighting, I began to realize that you dudes need to stick together in low points games. Here is the game decider, I try for a LoS on his Warrior squad without the Lord and fail... Instead I engage his Lord in CC with my DP and just take a few ineffective shots with any of my CSM that can make them. He quickly lays down 20 Goss (Am I spelling this right?) weapon shots and takes out half the squad of base CSM who pass their LD. The Necron Lord and DP take each other out, same I. Then the other Warrior squad mows down my other squad. I move up and LoS the closer Squad of Warriors into a perfect flamer position. I flamer them and they all save, I was shocked at this. After I laid down double shots from my pistols I assaulted into CC with the CSM squad and the Sorc. From there he spread his other squad of warriors out to get two objectives and tied my CSMs and Sorc up for 3 turns. I was rolling terribly with my power/force weapons and just couldn't manage the entire squad. At the top of the 6th turn I finally deal the final blow on that squad of warriors with my sorc and 3 CSM left. I loose.

I then drop the Aspiring champ and pick up another unit. I'll still refer to one unit as the base unit though, it only has 6 guys while the other one has 7.

Game two, the mission is cleanse ( Easiest to understand, I like it). The Board is half a pool table (Played at midnight at my friends house) with 4 quadrants again. The top left has a small piece of terrain, the bottom left has a low wall that provides cover (5+), the top right and bottom right both have big rectangular blocks of impassable terrain that make a corridor on the right. We roll for sides and I set up right behind the low wall with an entire unit and the Sorc. The DP is right behind them and the other Squad (Champless) is on the left as to be able to immediately run out from behind the wall. He sets up on the very edge line of top right one squad on the top left line with the lord and a squad of warriors and the other warrior squad a little far away as to come down the corridor. He wins first turn and brings his warriors down the corridor and his warriors and lord squad down toward the low wall. On my turn the DP flew over the low wall and all his buddies as the base squad ran up beside him. The other stayed put. The DP lashed the lord with his warriors into perfect position to be shot and assaulted and the Sorc pulled the other warrior squad only 3 inches forward (Oh exploitable). Then I just laid down my shots on the Necrons and assaulted in with the DP. The DP and the Necron lord exchange their lives again at the same time! The warriors move back after being tied up in CC with the DP and the other warriors move forward I've got a squad of 10 on the right and 7 infront of me. I then move both squads to perfect flamer positions. I fix the enemy position on the right with lash and let them have it with all the flamers and all the pistols in my teams. I assault in with the CSMs on both wounded warrior squads with the Sorc. The Base squad at the top left sweeping advances the Necrons out and the other Necron warrior squad follows suit a turn later.

So I lose one and get my first win ever! I was beginning to loose hope but I have restored vigor now. I also see how good base CSM are in low points with a lot of shots and a lot of swings.

I dont know what kind of crazy game you were playing, but a Demon prince has higher Initiative than a destroyer lord. You should not have been exchanging blows at the same time.

Darrell is a big cheaty face, I wouldn't put it past him. I think it had some kind of lance/equipment that gave him better I. Still not sure though. Next time I'll make him show me in the codex.

Also, you can't shoot a pistol twice after moving, and if you do stand still with them to shoot twice, then you can't assault.

Congrats on the win though, but I personally play orks and would never (EVER) give up my nob+Power Fist, equivalent to your sargent. However, Power weapons are semi-questionable, although not so much against Necrons, as it negates their WBB.

Another thing, especially against things with a 3+ armor save, don't really expect a flamer to do all that much, even hitting all 10 warriors will get 5 wounds, a little under two dead for the flamer.

Flamers are great against scarabs (double wounds!), but that's about it as far as Necrons are concerned.

Close Combat is definitely the place to beat Necrons, especially with 5th edition around the corner. It will be much easier to get sweeping advances now, as their Ldshp will have negative modifiers based on how many wounds they lost the fight by and their low initiative practically guarantees a sweep for the winner.

Congrats on the win, even against a big cheaty face!

P.S. It's "gauss" weaponry.
