How do you guys think this list would work out? Im sure its been already thought of, but I like as many giant units on the table as possible, even though it isnt the best strategy.

Bloodthirster, Blessing of the Blood God 255
Bloodthirster, Blessing of the Blood God 255

2 Bloodcrushers 80

9 Horrors, Changling, Icon 183
9 Horrors, Icon 178
9 Horrors, Icon 178
9 Horrors, Icon 178

Soul Grinder, Phlegm 160
Soul Grinder, Phlegm 160
DP, Iron Hide, Demonic Gaze 130

1757 points

group 1 - both soul grinders, 2 squads of horrors with changling, and the DP.
group 2 - 2 BTs, 2 squads of horrors, and the bloodcrushers

tactic in theory - hopefully DS within 18" of most of the enemy, unload 54 warpfire shots, 12 harverster shots, 2 phelgm plates, and 3 demonic gaze shots to take out a core of the infantry/light vehicles
2nd turn clean up with what comes in, hopefully the 2 thirsters

Would the list fair a little better with 3 DPs with gaze? The DPs have the potential to last longer but cannot dish out as much killing in theory as the SG.

Thanks for looking.

I like the list a lot. I think it will crush static shooty armies.

I'm not sure but I think the phlegm shot is ordnance which would prohibit you from firing the harvester cannon on the same turn.

instead of a 2nd bloodthirster i would prefer a keeper of secrets. A timely pavane can speed up the bloodthirster, and charging the first thing you can reach followed by a 3d6" hit and run gives the KoS some surprising mobility. I don't think 2 bloodthirsters are weak however. They are fast and excellent tank hunters.

The horrors are going to be pretty vulnerable to enemy shooting. When you start playing with them as your only scoring units you may want to think about taking more of them. As of right now in 4th edition I think they are a fine size.

Would the list fare better with DPs? Well, yes and no. Against eldar/dark eldar/marines/IG/tau/necrons, absolutely. Against orks, probably not.

Instead of iron hide, maybe look into mark of tzeentch. I don't know the numbers on it. but 4+ invulnerable is a pretty good substitute for power armor, and it also gives you access to a BS5 bolt of tzeentch. Good to see someone else looking at demonic gaze. On a prince, thats a damn good gift.

bloodcrushers look really good on paper. Just a solid nasty CC unit. but I think you have to look at what you need rather than just adding a solid unit to deep strike. If you feel liek your blind spots are covered then they are a great addition to the army. If you end up switching things around and need to find points. these 80 are up for grabs IMO.

I've been thinking a lot about the group 1/group 2 dividing strategy for the daemon army.. one nice thing is that by the rules, you don't have to divide them up until your enemy has deployed, so you can make some changes based on what you see.

But as far as this list, I would consider deploying the Bloodthirsters (or any other fast nasty assault unit) first and bring the Soulgrinders second.. this gives you a chance to tie up the main anti-tank units in assault before the big Walkers arive. Plus you can use the accuracy of the Icons to plant the Soulgrinders in 4+ cover more reliably.

(And, to respond to Shep, the Soulgrinder pie plate is an assualt wepon, so no worries there..)
