Hey guys! I have finally finished assembling my mass of warhammer marine items from the past two months and am quickly coming upon time to start assembly and painting. As I plan to heavily convert most of my figs I need some help getting started with what to put together. The main reason I choose marines was I could play with either of the Vanilla/BT/DA lists and not have to get more models. As it stands (and you will see) I have a good (large) assortment of figs and am shooting for around 2k but want to start with about half that. Everything is either NIB or NOS so thats why im doing all the planning, anything I dont use will get recycled into the community.
Short end to a long story (if you have made it this far that is) If you were me, and had this stuff in a box what would you grab for your first 1k while planning to go to 2 eventually for RTTs and GTs?

as an aside I prefer dark angels due to the fiction the quote "repent, for tomorrow you die" i think sums up the army im looking to make. I wouldnt mind hand crafting a couple drop pods (have some really nice ideas for them) and want to have a heavy gothic feel. thanks again for looking and helping me out.
