It's meant for beginner's, but not sure how accessible or accurate it is.

As a non-expert, was it confusing?

It all makes sense to me as a PoM player and seems very well written. I would only make a few minor changes about what things should be taken and with who. But overall, pretty good for a raw article.

"But remember that there are over 1000 chapters of spase marienz! So the SM codex has to cover over 1000 different kinds of spase marienz! Codex CSM only has to cover 1 kind (the Chaos kind). And I don't even think Eldar are a kind of spase marienz at all. Hurr!"

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

It is very non-confusing, and I am easily confused when reading something the first or second time. I am not in any position to judge its accuracy, however.

It's a good article, considering that PoM is arguably the most confusing faction of the eight (nine) Warmachine/ Hordes armies.

It seems good to me, thought me experience with the Protectorate is very limited. It's actually a good read for me as I'm very, very tempted to get a PoM army. My wallet will hate me. :(

I have a passing familiarity with the rules (have almost all of the books), though I've never played a game. Overall, it's good with nice write ups and marginal notes. However I'm not entirely sure who the audience is. Total noobs or more experienced players.

If the target is the totally new player, or new to Menoth, then I think you need a little more set up in some sections. For example, Units, you state, "select two of the following". My question is why?

Also, many new players will start off with the basic set, so you might start off with Basic set + X to make 500 points. Why 500 points, because it's the most common minimum size game in most situations.

Addressing the X, you can easily tailor the recommendations you've made to meet the X depending on what the player likes or what the player is likely to face. For each of the lists you wrote up, some notes about what armies each type of sample 500 point list would be effective against and why would be helpful

Also, some notes about what combos can be pulled of would be nice too.

In the first paragraph under Warcasters, "thigns" is mis-spelled.

Thanks Ifurita. "Why" is a question I completely overlooked.

That's what I get stretching my work over bursts of random
inspiration.

One comment on your comment about Rupert:

His songs enhance infantry uses, but their limitation is that he can't use the same song twice.

It should say that he can't use the same song twice in two consecutive turns.

Also, a bit about Reznik. He needs an arc node. He has two spells that provide benefits to models in his battlegroup (that would be Reznik and his jacks only) that need to be cast on enemy models and have medium-short ranges. Brand of Heresy is especially important because it boosts all other attack and damage rolls against the model/unit it's cast on. When making a Reznik list, I would start with a Revenger or Guardian or even both before moving on to anything else. His low CMD of 7 means you should take Commander solos like the Seneschal or just focus on Fearless infantry if you want to have a sizable troop presence.

Pirates seem fun and all, but I have no drive to get them right now. Reading up on Prime renewed my drive to make a Knight army. Then I started thinking about fire. Then I realized I was screwed.

Another thought is that if we're overexplaining in the article,
I could link to a new article to explain the idea that is
gathering confusion.

Anything stand out as confusing in this article for those of
you just starting out?

An Exemplar army, of course. I'm looking at Kreoss in charge, with a unite of Knights Exemplar, Errants and Vengers with Seneschals and Paladins for solos. I don't know what Jacks would be good for this, though I did pick up the Avatar just because I like the way it looks, and I actually like the rules. Oh, and I will be getting Gravus and I like the model. If you look at the 360, it really looks like he's riding by about to beat someone over the head with his flail.

When thinking about all this, the Protectorate bug bit me and I've picked up Feora and Reznik and will be getting a bunch of second hand stuff in the next week or two.

as a new player building a menoth army I found it pretty accessible and informative. I've played a grand total of two games of warmachine but I feel I have the rules down pretty cold so with that in mind it was helpful and understandable

I can deffinately sympathize Thanatos. I am just fleshing out my Khador army and suddnely my eye catches on both Cygnar AND Trolls. My wallet is so screwed in the coming months.

WTB Cygnar article. GO! GO! GO!

There is an attitude that not having an insanely optimized, one shot, six stage, omnidirectional, inevitable, mousetrap of an assassin list army somehow means that you have foolishly wasted your life building 500 points of pure, 24 karat, hand rolled, fine, cuban fail. That attitude has been shown, under laboratory conditions, to cause cancer of the fun gland.

Haha, I find Cygnar difficult because of the expensive units.
However, if I can convince Thanatos or someone else to do
it...

Otherwise I'll give it a shot some time.

I don't think I'd be all that effective at a Cygnar tactics article. My tactics never seem to work (aside from Darius, but he's easy) and I usually end up losing horribly.

Plus, I'm slowly building up the Protectorate and adding to the Legion right now, so all my WM thoughts are about fire and dragons anyway.

I played a Knight list today. I benefited from terrain in that
my Skorne opponent didn't have an open field to wipe out
whole swathes of my units.
