1st edition eldar FTW! I loved the old Guardian models. especially the plastic ones with lasg... shuriken catapults! They were quite nice to paint and assemble. Too bad they only had one pose...

Yep, Guardian w/lasgun for number 2. Number 1 I think is some other las-weapon, not an ML.

In fact, he shows up in the 1988 catalog, and is listed in the 1989 (fall) catalog as carrying a lascannon:

Stuff of Legends is a good place to start for any of these searches.

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil

Ha, I remember when they changed over from guardians with las-guns to guardians with shuricatapults. They had a little article saying that although they looked like imperial las-guns, they were misidentified by the imperium and these guns were in fact shuricatapults. I assumed that's what you were referring to...

And so, due to rising costs of maintaining the Golden Throne, the Emperor's finest accountants spoke to the Demigurg. A deal was forged in blood and extensive paperwork for a sub-prime mortgage with a 5/1 ARM on the Imperial Palace. And lo, in the following years the housing market did tumble and the rate skyrocketed leaving the Emperor's coffers bare. A dark time has begun for the Imperium, the tithes can not keep up with the balloon payments and the Imperial Palace and its contents, including the Golden Throne, have fallen into foreclosure. With an impending auction on the horizon mankind holds its breath as it waits to see who will gain possession of the corpse-god and thus, the fate of humanity......

Yeah, that first one is a guardian with a "lascannon" - from back when eldar could actually have them.

Ironically, since the guardian heavy weapon these days is only a 'marker', and one of the crew is assumed to be carrying it, they can quite happily be used as a guardian with a brightlance.

Oh yeah. That was so funny. I remember back when they first switched off from everyone using the same wargear list to separate ones. They actually had weapons rules for things that no one could use.

It was great!

The lascannon ought to become a bright lance, sure. Next, you should try to find some of the space marines with Shurikan Catipults.

I was looking through the catalog, and ran across a really old Chaos model that I used to love. It is a chaos renegade (chaos marine) on a palanquin with a shuriken catapult.

The shuricats used to be weapons that were widely available, but still the trademark weapon of Eldar Pirates. Sigh... I miss the RT days.

I believe that its a metal Eldar from 1st ed. The weapon was a las-cannon. You can see this model in Rouge Trader. I do remember the 'Eldar Attack' minis, there was a cool one with a shuriken cannon!

The other 'meltagun' eldar guardian was a 'standard bearer' (remember when all armies had them?) and more 'normal' looking.

These are from back in the day when models had names, as well as numbers.

Yes, its a 1st edition Eldar las cannon. There is a figure in similar armor carrying a missile launcher held vertically.

Both figs are shown in the bottom right corner:
