Ole' Rowdy

Ol' Rowdy

Details :

Ol' Rowdy has five decades of service under its chassis. It hails from the first generation of Ironclads hammered together at the Cygnaran Armory from parts manufactured at Engines East. Not until after several years fighting with distinction during the Scharde Invasions did the ornery temper that would characterize Ol' Rowdy actually come to the fore.

Looks pretty much a standard Ironclad to me. Nice model, but if they charge more for ti I will be dissappointed.

WHat's the "character ally"? A mercenary or something? I have searched for Viktor Pendrake but I can't see anything.

Yeah, check the front page.

The ally is a model that is faction specific but can work for
certain mercenary contracts.

No idea where they put them then.

Yay for Pendrake, despite not playing any faction he'd work for.

Also Ol' Rowdy is sweet looking too. Can't wait to see the Cryxy character 'jack.

It's a pet peeve of mine when weapons or any part of the model goes over the edge of the base below the lip. For me the top of the base is the ground, how can that hammer be there!? Just me then...

Not just you! It was one of the first things I noticed. Neat model, though.

I can't tell how different it is from an Ironclad. Is it just the
shoulderpad or is there more?

There's an extra wrist guard on his right hand (with a black Cygnus, indicating Rowdy belongs to Stryker), two extra smoke stacks, extra hoses going from the boiler to the arms, and random spikes. I think it looks pretty boss. As a whole, character jacks are what I am most interested in from Legends, so this preview is very welcome even if it is Cygnaran.

Pendrake is the exact same fig from they put out for the IKRPG. They're just repackaging it with a card. It's a good model, and I'd probably do it the same way if I was in their shoes, but it just seems...lazy, I guess.

Just small details really. The groin. Maybe the standard version is a little broader (this can be seen by comparing the collar of both 'jacks)

On the other hand, after comparing the two, it makes me sad because all the 'jacks should look this cool. I think it's time for resculpts on all the prime 'jacks.

I didn't realize that the Professor Pendrake model was just
a repackaging of the IKRPG model but with rules as a
Hordes minion and Cygnar merc or something like that.

Ordinarily, this bugs me too, but the ironclad has an attack called earthquake or somesuch where it slams it's hammer into the ground and knocks everybody around it down. So yes, the spike of the hammer is, indeed, in the ground.

I don'y care that pendrake is just a repacage, it's totally awesome that such an important character is now in Hordes-Machine along with Alexia.

"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism." -Hermann Goering (high ranking Nazi)

So it goes.

A plausible explanation except for the rest of the pose. It doesn't look like it just slammed its hammer down. It doesn't look like it's trying to pull it out either. The hammer is just kind of. . . there.

$50 - this new Ironclad is only 2x the price of an Ironclad. What a bargain, at this price you'd be insane not to buy several.

$75 really would have been the sweet spot.

Realize that pretty much everything in Prime is at a bargain price. They increased prices once, but they haven't kept up with inflation.

they made a big to-do when the price of tin went up, I am surprised they did not make more of an effort to keep prices in line.

but maybe this is a compromise. People still shell out for their five man strong of Ulhans.

I have to admit that $30 for a Scather crew is a bit much. But it is just so SHINY.

Also, things they expect to sell fewer of get a higher price. Since Cygnar players will most likely only ever buy Ol' Rowdy once, it gets sold at a premium.

I like him because I still get a lot of mileage out of my Iron clad, and I could use this model to replace him just for the look.

He is more expensive, but I bet he is quite a bit bigger too...

Ol' Rowdy is exactly as sweet as it should be: Ironclads are as close to 'generic' as a warjack gets (probably the Juggernaut and Nomad are the next closest), so it's nice to see a certain homage to the original sculpt without going over the top. Nevertheless, while they have been charging around $50 for character-type warjacks/warbeasts, that may be a tad OTT for this one.

Pendrake: woo-hoo! He has rules for WH/H now! No new sculpt doesn't bother me that much (though I'm sure he'll cost somewhat more than the IKRPG fig), as the original's pretty bad-ass (I have a sword and spectacles and am not afraid to use them!) but it would have been nice, in the same way that Alexia got an IKRPG and a WM separate sculpt (one unarmored, the other armored with a scenic base).

Guinness: for those who are men of the cloth and football fans, but not necessarily in that order.

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil
